Qualifications

  • Minimum (2) years operating and performing preventative, minor, and major maintenance on a rotary die cutter.
  • Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is a plus.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to read and comprehend basic instructions; strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up print and die-cut sections of die cutters according to setup techniques.
  • Operate, monitor, and troubleshoot the die cutting process to ensure safe, efficient production.
  • Inspect and ensure bolts, cutting dies, and anilox rolls are in good condition; report malfunctions.
  • Maintain clean, safe work area and follow safety regulations including PPE use.
  • Record information on the Quality Assurance Report (QAR).
  • Interact with packers to meet customers’ printing, slotting, and scoring requirements.
  • Assist with First Box Inspection Process and overall quality control.

Job description

SUMMARY: The McKinley Die Cutter is responsible for performing various tasks to set up, operate, monitor, troubleshoot and perform general preventive maintenance on assigned die cut machine. Reliable and able to work with attention to detail and safety standards is a must. The operator oversees the printing and/or die-cutting of quality products in a safe and efficient manner. The operator is responsible for knowing how to perform all the specific job duties associated with operator and assistant positions. Being a team player is essential since all tasks will require close collaboration with co-workers. The goal will be to ensure that production procedures will be carried on smoothly to maximize efficiency and profits. Experience working with corrugated packaging equipment is a plus.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:General knowledge and understanding of rotary die cutting processes and equipmentRead, understand and follow job tickets to determine setup specifications and instructionsSet-up print and die-cut sections of die cutters in accordance with proper setup techniquesInspect and and ensure that all bolts, cutting dies, and anilox rolls are in good condition and tightly in placeStop or reset machine when malfunctions occur, clear machine jams, and report malfunctions to a supervisorRegulate machine flow, speed, or temperature, dimension, pressure, register settingsInspect and remove defective products and packaging materialAdjust machine components and machine tension and pressure according to size or processing angle of productMaintain the work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follow prescribed safety regulationsSet up machine from job to job – based on McKinley RDC operational proficienciesProperly and successfully interact with packersUnderstands Lock-out/Tag-out procedures required for opening and closing McKinley RDCRecord all necessary information on the SupplyOne QAR (Quality Assurance Report)Follow instructions accuratelyMeet customers’ requirements for printing, slotting, and scoringUnderstand and follows First Box Inspection ProcessAbility and knowledge to understand and use printing plates, ink system, and die boardsUnderstands all safety procedures and precautions to ensure protections of personnel doing repairs and machine cleaning – including donning of PPE and replacing and rotating blankets.Ensuring production floor, machine area, is clean, accessible, and safe.This list is not exhaustive of assigned responsibilitiesQUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and safely.
