Goodwill-Industries-of-Southeastern-Louisiana is seeking an Assistant Logistics Aftermarket Manager to oversee transportation, warehousing, Attended Donation Centers, and outlet/salvage operations in coordination with the Logistics Aftermarket Manager.

The role directs the flow of donated, purchased, and salvage goods across our network and travels weekly to donation centers to ensure workflow and customer service standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 5 years leadership experience in trucking, warehousing, and salvage operations.
  • 3 years of leadership experience supervising others.
  • Knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle registration.
  • Auto liability insurance as required by state law.

Responsibilities

  • Lead warehouse, outlet/salvage, and transportation/logistics operations and supervise staff.
  • Oversee flow of donated, purchased, and salvage merchandise between stores, centers, warehouses, outlet and vendors.
  • Ensure safety regulations are followed and DOT compliance.
  • Maintain vehicles and equipment in good order.
  • Improve financial viability and sustainability of logistics operations.
  • Read financial and labor reports and act on findings.
  • Support salvage and recycling opportunities throughout the territory.

ReportsTo: Logistics Manager

Division: Retail Operations

Essential Functions

The Assistant LogisticsAftermarket Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the transportation, warehousing, Attended Donation Centers, and outlet/salvageoperations in conjunction with the Logistics Aftermarket Manager, to promoteorganizational sustainability and growth. Directs the flow of donated,purchased, and outlet/salvage goods throughout the organizational network oflocations. Provides leadership and develops operational goals while guiding andpromoting employee development within the assigned departments. The assistantwill travel a minimum of once a week to all Attendant Donation Centers toensure workflow processes are being followed and that customer serviceexpectations are being met. This role will ensure maintenance and cleanlinessof the building meet department standards. Will conduct any necessary trainingneeded for the Attendant

Responsibilities
  • Tolead warehouse, outlet/salvage, and transportation/logistics operations andsupervise staff
  • To oversee and manage the flow of donated, purchased, and outlet/salvagemerchandise between stores, donation centers, warehouses, outlet, and vendors.
  • To hold staff accountable and take any necessary corrective action to ensureaccountability and adherence to goals, policies, procedures, and direction.
  • To oversee and maintain in good order the maintenance of vehicles,machinery, and equipment.
  • To ensure all transportation safety regulations are followed to make foraccident-free driving, lowered insurance costs, and to ensure DOT regulatorycompliance.
  • To work to improve financial viability and sustainability of thetransportation, outlet/salvage, and warehousing departments.
  • To enforce and uphold organizational and departmental standards regardingfinancial performance, quality of work, reliability, safety, and efficiency.
  • To read, interpret, and take appropriate action on financial reports, laborreports, maintenance reports, salvage surveys, etc.
  • To work to reduce and minimize trash/waste expense to the organization.
  • To assist in the sourcing and development of salvage and recyclingopportunities throughout the agency territory.
  • To interpret and uphold employer policies and enforce safety regulations.
  • To streamline schedule for transportation department to ensure propersupport for all locations. Support includes pick-up/delivery of goods, outlet,and trash.
  • To identify opportunities and generate ideas to improve the Logistics,Warehouse, Outlet/Salvage Operations.
Skills and Abilities
  • Must be able to interact cordially andproductively with a variety of people.
  • Must be able to market Goodwill and explain the mission.
  • Must establish and maintain effective workingrelationships with, and among, personnel while motivating and holding each accountable to put forth their best effort
  • Must be able to read, write and communicate clearly in English.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours on short notice, including nights and weekends, and occasionally long hours.
  • Must provide own transportation.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25# and up to 50#'s occasionally with assistance
  • Must be able to engage in prolonged standing and walking and in frequent bending, stooping and stretching. Must exhibit proficiency in the use and operation of warehouse equipment to include palletjacks, tippers, balers, and material handling containers.
  • Must be certified to operate a forklift or obtain certification within 90 days.
  • Must be able to function in a work environment with high stress.
  • Must have knowledge of salvage commodities such as Textiles, Shoes, Linens, Purses/Accessories, etc. Assist in on-going growth of the Salvage operation to increase revenue and reduce recyclable items from going to the landfill
  • Must exhibit good judgment and decision-making abilities.
Requirements
  • Requires high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must have 5 years of leadership experience in trucking, warehousing, and Salvage Operations
  • Requires 3 years of Leadership experience directly supervising other workers
  • Must possess knowledge of Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Must maintain minimum automobile liability insurance as required by the State of Louisiana and be insurable through the Company’s insurance carrier.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain current registration and state vehicle inspection.
Working Conditions

Frequent physical exposure to donated goods materials The ability to tolerate frequent periods of high stress, manage a heavy workload and multiple priorities. Will work in a warehouse environment with forklift traffic, truck traffic, high noise level, and moving containers.
