Job summary

Aurora Co-op is seeking an Assistant Location Manager for the Agronomy & Grain location. This role supports daily location operations, coordinates seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, and grain movement while assisting with logistics and inventory control.

You will work with growers and internal teams to ensure accurate orders, timely fulfillment, and a strong safety culture. The position involves seasonal peaks and supervision of seasonal and full-time staff, with readiness to step in

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is required.
  • 2+ years in agronomy & grain operations, ag retail, fertilizer/chemical handling, or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during peak seasons.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain/maintain DOT medical card if required.
  • Ability to work extended hours during seasonal peaks.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in managing daily location operations, including product receiving, blending, loading, application scheduling, and deliveries.
  • Support excellent customer service by working with growers and internal teams to ensure accurate orders and timely fulfillment.
  • Help coordinate applicator schedules, tender operations, trucking loads and assist dispatching to meet seasonal demands.
  • Assist in supervising location employees, including training, coaching, and performance feedback.

Position Summary

The Assistant Location Manager – Agronomy & Grain Location supports the day-to-day operations of an agronomy and grain facility, helping ensure safe, efficient, and customer-focused service delivery. This role assists supervising staff, coordinating logistics for seed, fertilizer, crop protection products, harvest season and general grain movement, supporting inventory management with grain commodities and agronomy products while helping drive customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Customer Service
  • Assist in managing daily location operations, including product receiving, blending, loading, application scheduling, and deliveries.
  • Support excellent customer service by working with growers and internal teams to ensure accurate orders and timely fulfillment.
  • Help coordinate applicator schedules, tender operations, trucking loads and assist dispatching to meet seasonal demands.
Leadership & Team Support
  • Assist in supervising location employees (seasonal and full-time), including training, coaching, and performance feedback.
  • Promote a positive team culture focused on safety, quality, and customer service.
  • Promote and help serve and lead with Location Manager
  • Step in for the Location Manager as needed.
Inventory, Facilities & Equipment
  • Assist with inventory control of grain commodities, seed, fertilizer, chemical, and related supplies (receiving, storage, cycle counts, reconciliation).
  • Help maintain facility appearance and functionality, including housekeeping and organization.
  • Support maintenance and readiness of equipment such as sprayers, tenders, pumps, conveyors, application equipment, grain elevators, and grain storage flats.
Safety, Compliance & Quality
  • Ensure safe work practices are followed and reinforce company safety policies and procedures.
  • Support compliance with all applicable regulations related to fertilizer and crop protection handling, storage, and application (e.g., labeling, SDS, EPA/State requirements).
  • Assist with documentation, reporting, and incident follow-up as required.
Physical & Work Environment Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and work in outdoor conditions (heat, cold, wind, dust).
  • Comfort working around moving machinery, grain/agronomy facilities, and agricultural chemicals with proper PPE.
  • Ability to climb ladders/stairs and work at heights as needed.
  • Assist other departments as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2+ years of experience in agronomy & grain operations, ag retail, fertilizer/chemical handling, or related field.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities during peak seasons.
  • Valid driver’s license; ability to obtain/maintain appropriate DOT medical card if required.
  • Ability to work extended hours during seasonal peaks.
Preferred
  • Associate’s degree or higher in agriculture, agronomy, business, or related field.
  • Applicator license and/or ability to obtain pesticide/fertilizer handling certifications (state-specific).
  • Experience leading teams or supervising employees.
  • CDL (Class A or B) and/or willingness to obtain.
