First Student, Inc. is hiring an Assistant Transportation Manager to support daily operations, monitor performance, and address safety concerns across routes.

You will assist the Contractual Manager, supervise dispatch and drivers, and help ensure on-time service while maintaining high safety standards. The position offers a competitive salary, full benefits, and opportunities for career growth within a large North American network.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years experience in transportation
• 2-3 years supervisory experience
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Familiar with basic vehicle mechanical processes and maintenance
• Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Work extended hours including weekends
• Possess a working vehicle to travel within service area as needed

Responsabilités

• Ensures home to school routes are covered in a timely and efficient manner
• Interfaces with drivers regarding concerns and performance issues
• Investigates client complaints and coordinates resolutions
• Ensures achievement of on time performance goals
• Monitors driver safety and makes Injury Prevention (IP) contacts with drivers to identify and resolve safety issues
• Assist Contractual Manager with review and resolution of union grievances
• Ensures dispatch staff assigns spare drivers and buses as required to provide on‑time coverage of routes
• Audits and corrects athletic trip invoices based on company guidelines

Assistant Transportation Manager Responsibilities:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 3-5 years experience in transportation

• Computer literacy skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Familiar with basic vehicle mechanic processes and maintenance
• Ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
• Work extended hours regularly, including weekends
• Possess working vehicle to travel within service area as needed

This role requires English proficiency. Federal, state, and local requirements, including U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, require training, safety communications, company policies, employment documents, and other job‑related communications be conducted in English.
