Position Summary:

The successful candidate will perform load rating calculations on bridges and culverts, ensure compliance with AASHTO and NYSDOT standards, conduct capacity and demand analysis for structures, prepare and review calculations and reports, design and detail structural repair components, and develop construction cost estimates and specifications. The role requires applying engineering principles with limited supervision.

Compensation:

$40.00-$55.00/hour, depending on experience, education, and certifications.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Analyze survey reports, maps, drawings, and geotechnical data to develop analytical models and calculations.
  • Perform structural analysis using computer models, MathCAD, spreadsheets, and manual calculations.
  • Advance designs per client specifications using design software and tools.
  • Prepare engineering plans, specifications, estimates, and reports.
  • Participate in meetings with clients.
  • Coordinate with team members, clients, subconsultants, and support disciplines to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
Nonessential Functions and Responsibilities:
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program and at least 4 years of bridge design or inspection experience, or
  • Possession of a NYS Professional Engineer’s License (or ability to obtain via reciprocity within 3 months) with at least 2 years of bridge design or inspection experience.
  • Proficiency in design software such as AASHTOWare BRDR, Bentley STAAD.Pro, CSi Bridge, Bentley RM Bridge, MDX, Bentley LEAP, etc.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
Preferred Experience:
  • Experience with NYSDOT Bridge Inspection Term Agreements.
  • Experience performing Level 1 and Level 2 Load Ratings with AASHTOWare BrDR.
Working Conditions:

This role may be hybrid, with remote work several days a week depending on experience and team needs. Office work is primarily sedentary, with occasional fieldwork in various weather conditions, and may include lifting up to 25 lbs.
