Job Title: Assistant, Lab, Diesel and Heavy Equipment (Part-Time Temporary)

Location: Guilford Technical Community College | Jamestown, NC 27282

Job Description

This position provides basic support to diesel and heavy equipment laboratory operations under the direction of the Program Director and faculty. It is a part-time temporary role, up to 25 hours/week.

Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Coordinate the preparation of Diesel shop exercises and activities, ensuring all equipment, trucks, and supplies are in place and sufficient.
  2. Maintain shop facilities, equipment, and supplies in a clean and organized manner to support instructional activities.
  3. Use hand tools for minor troubleshooting and repairs, and organize storage areas.
  4. Ensure security of facilities, equipment, and instructional materials, and maintain safe working conditions.
Additional Duties
  1. Perform safety and security checks at all times.
  2. Assist students with machines and diesel engines as needed.
  3. Follow daily project instructions.
  4. Report safety violations to instructors.
Qualifications
Required
  • High school diploma
  • Two years of relevant work experience in a Diesel Maintenance or related industry environment
Preferred
  • Diesel and Heavy Equipment Diploma or Certificate
  • More than two years of relevant work experience
  • Post-secondary lab/shop experience in Diesel & Heavy Equipment Technology
  • Experience maintaining and auditing shop environments
Physical Demands and Professional Standards
  • Work is performed in a diesel shop environment with students of all ages.
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and adhere to safety standards.
  • Be proactive and stay engaged during work hours; interaction with students should be professional and limited to work-related assistance.
