Kitchen & Culinary Manager - Job Description

Simple Eatery is hiring an Assistant Kitchen Manager / Sous Chef. This is a full-time hourly position that includes a performance bonus and opportunities for growth. The role answers to the Owner & General Manager. The ideal candidate will be creative in food preparation and dining trends, proficient in all aspects of food preparation, presentation, food costs, and food handling. They should be a strong leader, role model, trainer, and a positive force in the kitchen.

Responsibilities:

  • Create daily seasonal & specialty items, along with potential new menu items.
  • Execute the restaurant’s menu as established, to the highest standards.
  • Strong experience in stocks, soups, sauces & proteins.
  • Ensure all shifts are properly staffed for service.
  • Compliance with safety, nutrition & sanitation regulations.
  • Food ordering & storage.
  • Create a culture of a positive & professional work environment with coworkers.
  • Create cleaning & maintenance schedules for the kitchen.
  • General maintenance & repair of kitchen equipment, when applicable.

Requirements:

  • Work varied schedules, 34-42 hours per week (including weekends & some holidays).
  • Excellent record of leadership.
  • Ability to spot and resolve problems efficiently.
  • Capable of delegating multiple tasks.
  • Strong communication, team building, and leadership skills.
  • Keep up with cooking trends and best practices.
  • Serve-safe certification (or willing to obtain).
  • Culinary training.
  • Requires current location or relocation to Buena Vista, CO.

  • Hourly wage plus a portion of tips (average $5-$7/hr more).

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour

Expected hours: 34 – 42 per week

Shift:

  • Day shift.
  • Evening shift.

Experience:

  • Culinary experience: 1 year (Preferred).
  • Cooking: 1 year (Preferred).
