Job description

Join a supportive and dynamic team at Utah Valley University as a part-time Assistant Instructor at the UVU Wee Care Center. In this rewarding role, you'll contribute to a welcoming, high-quality childcare environment that supports student parents by providing short-term care for children from 6 weeks to 12 years old. Under the guidance of experienced leadership, you'll play an important role in the center’s daily operations—engaging with children, fostering their development, and making a meaningful impact in the UVU community.

  • Provide supervision and maintaining the required teacher-to-child ratios. Attend to children's basic needs, including diaper changes, toileting, and handwashing.
  • Facilitate age-appropriate activities to encourage learning, creativity, and play. Foster a nurturing environment that supports social and emotional growth.
  • Ensure the safety of children by adhering to established protocols and promptly addressing potential hazards or emergencies. Maintain clean and well-organized classrooms to provide a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Manage check-in and check-out procedures accurately. Complete and maintain all required paperwork, including attendance and incident reports.
High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 6 months experience.

Knowledge
  • Knowledge of public education, family studies, early childhood education and best practices.
Skills
  • Skills in general principles to specific conditions in child care.
Abilities
  • Ability to follow oral and written procedures and instructions.
  • Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and backgrounds.
  • Ability to exercise effective interpersonal problem solving and decision making skills.
