Job Description: The Department of Chemistry at the University of Florida, one of the nation's leading public research universities, invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE), 12-month, non-tenure-track faculty position in Organic Chemistry at the rank of Lecturer (Assistant Instructional Professor). The successful candidate will join a dynamic academic community with an anticipated start date as early as January 1, 2027.

The successful candidate will teach Organic Chemistry lecture and laboratory courses, maintain instructional laboratory instrumentation, and contribute to the development and implementation of innovative pedagogical materials and undergraduate curriculum. Responsibilities also include managing electronic course content and online learning resources, supervising and training graduate teaching assistants, fostering a strong culture of laboratory safety and ethical conduct, mentoring undergraduate students, and collaborating with faculty within and beyond the department. The Department encourages the submission of proposals focused on chemistry education and supports faculty engagement in the scholarship of teaching and learning. Teaching faculty are fully integrated members of the department and have opportunities to participate in departmental, university, and professional service activities.

Applicants must demonstrate a sustained record of teaching and a strong commitment to undergraduate chemistry education. The successful candidate will have evidence of scholarly and professional achievement, a passion for student success, and a demonstrated ability to develop and implement innovative, evidence-based instructional approaches. The ideal candidate will also exhibit a commitment to pedagogical innovation and a commitment to service, including active involvement in professional organizations and the broader chemistry education community.

Expected Salary: $80,000 - $85,000

Required Qualifications: Ph.D. in Chemistry or a closely related discipline, and demonstrable expertise in teaching at the university level.

Preferred: We seek candidates who have demonstrated creativity in chemistry education and a strong commitment to pursuing a career dedicated to the education and mentorship of exceptional undergraduate students within one of the largest chemistry departments in the country.
