Job Title: Kindergarten Instructional Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Kindergarten Instructional Assistant. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the lead teacher in creating a nurturing and stimulating environment where young children can develop socially, emotionally, and academically. The ideal candidate should have a passion for early childhood education, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and students.

Position Details

• Location: Willow Elementary
• Type: Part-Time (29 hours/week), 181 school days, Monday-Friday, 5.8 hours daily
• Salary: Starting at $18.25/hour
• Benefits: Part-time benefits including vision, life insurance, disability, PERF retirement; not eligible for medical/dental insurance
• FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
• Schedule: Monday – Friday, 5.8 hours daily
• Paid Time Off: Eligible
• Holiday Pay: Not eligible

Minimum Qualifications

1. Educational Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent
2. Skills and Knowledge: Effective communication with students, staff, and parents; basic instructional knowledge
3. Experience: At least one year in early childhood programs, elementary classroom assistance, or post-high school work in education or related field
4. Certification: None required
5. Other: Ability to maintain positive relationships with pupils, staff, parents, and community

Primary Responsibilities

1. Assist lead teacher with lesson plans and activities supporting physical, cognitive, and social development
2. Provide support to individual students or small groups
3. Supervise students during activities and outdoor play to ensure safety
4. Maintain a clean, organized classroom environment
5. Help prepare instructional materials and resources
6. Foster a positive learning environment encouraging student participation
7. Communicate professionally with parents regarding student progress and concerns
8. Collaborate on planning and coordinating school events and field trips
9. Participate in professional development sessions
10. Perform other duties as assigned

Physical Demands

Regularly required to sit, stand, use hands, talk, hear; frequently walk, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds; vision abilities include close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus.
