Job summary

Sheridan County School District 2 seeks an energetic Assistant Indoor/Outdoor Track Throws Coach to join Sheridan High School for both indoor and outdoor seasons. You will assist the head coach in selecting teams, supervising practice, and mentoring student-athletes.

Applicants must hold a current endorsement through the PTBS, CPR/First Aid certifications, and immunizations. The role offers two seasonal stipends: indoor $3,848 and outdoor $5,670.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Assist head coach in selecting players and assigning positions.

• Maintain a positive leadership role and relate well with the team.
• Encourage students who are injured or academically at risk.

Sheridan County School District 2 is seeking a friendly, inspiring and committed indoor track throws coach to join the Sheridan High track team for the indoor and outdoor seasons.

Indoor Stipend: $3,848 (January-March) Outdoor Stipend: $5,670 (March-May)

Qualifications

• Obtain current endorsement through the Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) prior to the start of coaching responsibilities.
• Maintain all appropriate certifications (CPR, First Aid) and immunizations.

Job Goal

To provide services to assist the head coach in their assigned position(s).

Performance Responsibilities

• Help the head coach in choosing players for the team and assigning them to a position. Assist with tryouts and separate players into varsity and junior varsity teams (or A, B, and C teams as applicable) based on skill, teamwork, and potential.
• Observe players in practice sessions to determine starters and monitor improvement of other players.
• Use knowledge of the sport, with experience playing, coaching, or acting as a referee considered valuable.
• Know the rules of the sport and other relevant regulations.
• Assist with paperwork and be knowledgeable about regulations.
• Maintain a good relationship with the team while remaining a leader.
• Encourage students working through injuries or at risk of losing their spot due to poor academic performance.

Equipment Used

Athletic equipment for the assigned sport as well as the weight room and athletic training room as necessary.

Physical Demands

• Frequently walk, sit, talk, or hear; use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects and reach with hands and arms. Occasionally climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Perform basic first aid skills and occasionally lift or move up to 100 pounds.
• Vision requirements include close vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.

Terms of Employment

Approximate duration of assignment will be determined by position; salary and fringe benefits to be set by the Board of Trustees.

Performance of this job will be in accordance with provisions of the Board's Policy on Evaluation of Certified Personnel.
