Job summary

TMS International in Axis, AL, is seeking an Assistant Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our team. The role supports and enforces on-site safety and environmental programs, ensures regulatory compliance, and mentors staff in EH&S practices.

You will coordinate daily EH&S activities, prepare reports for corporate and government agencies, and maintain comprehensive documentation while promoting a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Associates/Bachelors/Masters in ABET-accredited safety program preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in managing or coordinating an industrial safety program.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Strong teamwork and work ethic.

Responsibilities

• Monitor compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations.
• Coordinate day-to-day EH&S activities and programs.
• Prepare reports to corporate HQ, host mills and government agencies.
• Maintain safety and environmental documentation library and update as needed.
• Document and monitor safety training and incident reporting.

We are looking for an Assistant Health, Safety and Environmental (HSE) Manager to join our team in Axis, AL.

Location: Axis, AL

Work Management:

• Under the direction of the Site Safety Manager, monitors compliance with applicable safety and environment regulations.
• Must be fluent in Microsoft Office (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Must be a “Team Player' and have strong work ethics.
• Minimum 2 years work experience managing or coordinating an industrial safety program.
• Applicants with Associates, Bachelors or Masters Degree in an ABET accredited Safety program are highly preferred.

Personnel and Staff Development:

• Administers the attendance and safety incentives for each month.
• Supports company policies, dress codes, work rules, safety rules, and ethics.
• Safety and Environmental Coordination:
• Supports the day to day operation of the Company wide EH&S program.
• Monitors and documents compliance with applicable OSHA, Federal, State and local laws and regulations.
• Prepares required reports to corporate headquarters, host steel mills and government agencies if required.
• Maintains library of safety and environment documentation and revises when necessary.
• Documents and monitors prevention training and reporting on accidents and injuries.
