TMS International is seeking a dedicated Material Handler for the Birmingham, AL facility. The role involves moving, organizing, and storing raw materials and finished steel products, with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Shift is 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM, and pay ranges from $20.00 to $25.00 per hour based on experience. Responsibilities include operating forklifts and cranes, loading materials, maintaining inventory accuracy, and coordinating with supervisors on schedules.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in material handling or industrial settings preferred.
• Ability to safely operate forklifts, cranes and other equipment (certifications a plus).
• Strong understanding of safety standards and procedures in an industrial environment.
• Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Willing to complete pre-employment screenings.

Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and material handling equipment safely.
• Load and unload steel coils, billets, and scrap from trucks and railcars.
• Store materials properly to prevent damage and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Assist inventory management and report shortages or discrepancies.
• Perform routine equipment inspections for safety and efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe environment.
• Coordinate material movement with supervisors and production schedules.

We are seeking a dedicated and safety-conscious Material Handler to join our team at TMS International, LLC in Birmingham, AL. As a Material Handler, you will play a crucial role in the movement, organization, and storage of raw materials and finished steel products throughout the facility. This position requires a strong attention to detail, the ability to operate heavy machinery, and a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.

Schedule: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM (Night Shift)

Pay: $20.00-$25.00/hour, depending on experience

Key Responsibilities:

• Safely operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and other material handling equipment to transport materials and products within the steel mill.
• Load and unload raw materials such as steel coils, billets, and scrap from trucks and railcars.
• Ensure materials are stored properly in designated areas to prevent damage and maintain inventory accuracy.
• Assist in inventory management, including tracking material usage and reporting shortages or discrepancies.
• Perform routine inspections of equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Adhere to all safety protocols and company policies to promote a safe working environment.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to coordinate material movement and production schedules.
• Assist in the maintenance of a clean and organized work area.
