Job Description

Assistant Athletic Coach is responsible for helping fulfill the mission of Des Moines Christian School by equipping and nurturing the minds and hearts of student athletes through their physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual development. This position supports the Head Coach in the implementation of sport‑specific fundamentals and content area appropriate for the grade level being coached.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, preferred.
• Related coaching experience, preferred.
• Coaching authorization with the State of Iowa.
• Ability to lift 30 lbs.
• Professing believer in Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior and committed to growing in relationship with Him.
• In agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Statement of Faith.
• In agreement with the Des Moines Christian School Biblical Convictions for Christian Education.
• Regularly attends and is actively involved in a church that affirms historic Christian orthodoxy, consistent with the DMC Statement of Faith.

• Assists in developing athletes physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
• Communicates effectively with players, parents, administration, and the community.
• Assists Head Coach with program purchases and equipment needs.
• Coordinates with coaching staff and facilities team in the proper care and management of facilities and equipment.
• Adheres to the policies and practices outlined in the DMC Coaches Handbook.
• All other duties as assigned by the Head Coach or Head of Activities.
