Job Description

Reports to: The Head Coach, in conjunction with the Activity Director and respective principal. Aims to carry out the sport program’s objectives, instruct athletes in fundamentals, strategy, and physical training to achieve team and individual success.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Implement all athletic policies approved by the Saydel Board of Education.
• Apply existing state and league regulations consistently.
• Maintain discipline, foster teamwork, and promote moral cooperation within the program.

Administrative Duties

• Assist the head coach with scheduling, transportation, and necessary arrangements for tournaments and special events.
• Prepare and manage events and practices, adhering to facility schedules and coordinating with maintenance staff.
• Submit required documentation to the Athletic Director, including physical examinations, parental consents, and eligibility information (sub‑varsity level).
• Safeguard equipment and facilities, ensuring proper storage and inventory records.

Student Responsibilities

• Provide training rules and any sport‑specific regulations to each athlete.
• Offer guidance, assistance, and safeguards during practices, games, and travel.
• Direct student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
• Enforce discipline, handle due‑process procedures, and communicate with parents regarding dropped or ineligible students.

Equipment and Facilities

• Accountable for all equipment, assemble inventories, and recommend budget items.
• Regulate access to equipment rooms and staff offices.
• Ensure locker room cleanliness before and after events.
• Secure facilities (doors, windows, locks) prior to departure.
• Promote respect for equipment and school property among players.

Program Responsibilities

• Assist the head coach in program execution.
• Create press releases and school announcements.
• Educate team members on rule changes and fundamentals as directed.
• Maintain team statistics and lettering records.
• Participate in staff meetings, scouting assignments, and conditioning initiatives.
• Arrive in time for practices, contests, and meetings; remain afterward for player support or team discussions.
• Attend clinics, grow personal coaching skills, and observe other teams when possible.
• Perform any other duties consistent with the position.
• Hold a parent meeting before the season begins.
