Job summary

Peco Foods is seeking a hands-on Hatchery Operations Supervisor to oversee the hatchery and trucking fleet, ensuring quality and cost-efficiency. You will supervise a team, enforce policies, and coordinate egg transfers between locations.

You will also manage payroll-related tasks, maintain records, and ensure compliance with animal welfare and safety standards across all activities.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises at least 10 employees.
• Aligns work with Peco’s vision, mission and core values.
• Directs, controls, coordinates and maintains hatchery operations and trucking fleet.
• Oversees daily payroll, absentee sheets, vacation requests and disciplinary action forms.
• Maintains accurate personnel records, ordering supplies, trucking routes and safety correspondence.
• Knows and communicates all hatchery and corporate policies.
• Coordinates chick placement and eggs transferred between locations.
• Follows animal welfare and biosecurity programs; trains employees accordingly.
• Handles and ensures safe handling of chemicals, vaccines, and medications.
• Maintains adequate staffing and ensures compliance with government regulations.

• Overall responsibility is to pick up hatch eggs, hatch and deliver quality chicks at a competitive cost.
• Responsible for directing, controlling, coordinating and maintaining all aspects of the hatchery operation and trucking fleet to provide a high quality chick at a competitive cost.
• Responsible for daily paperwork such as: payroll, absentee sheets, vacation requests, and disciplinary action forms.
• Maintain accurate record keeping of personnel, ordering supplies, coordinating trucking routes, and safety correspondence.
• Responsible for knowing and communicating all hatchery and corporate policies.
• Works with other company supervisors in coordinating chick placement, and eggs transferred between locations.
• Follow animal welfare and biosecurity programs and ensure that employees are trained and following these standards.
• Handles and ensures employees handle various chemicals, vaccines, and medications safely.
• Maintain adequate staffing.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable government agencies and regulations.

Physical Demands:

• Sitting/standing/walking and driving 100% of the workday.
• Working in normal room environment, outside environment, and in cold, hot, humid, and dusty conditions.
• Lifting various weights on an as needed basis.
• Physically able to climb a ladder at various heights.
