Job summary

Apex-Park-and-Recreation-Distric is seeking an Assistant Gymnastics Coach to support safe, engaging recreational programs for youth and families in our public recreation center. Under the direction of the Gymnastics Coordinator and Head Coach, you will assist with instruction, supervision, and program operations to help participants develop gymnastics fundamentals and confidence.

This role emphasizes teamwork, safety, and customer service; candidates should be 16 or older with gymnastics

Qualifications

• Must be at least 16 years old.
• Previous gymnastics, recreation, coaching, or youth programming experience preferred.
• Knowledge of basic gymnastics skills, progressions, and safety practices.
• Ability to communicate clearly and respectfully with children, parents/guardians, and staff.
• Ability to maintain participant safety and manage groups in a busy recreation setting.
• Ability to provide excellent customer service and contribute to a welcoming program culture.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including afternoons, evenings, weekends, and school breaks.
• First Aid, CPR, and AED certification preferred or obtained within 90 days of hire.
• No degree required; relevant gymnastics/recreation experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Assist with planning, preparing, and leading recreational gymnastics classes, camps, and open gym sessions.
• Teach and demonstrate basic gymnastics skills and proper technique.
• Provide active supervision and spotting to promote safety.
• Set up and inspect mats and equipment; report hazards.
• Maintain a positive, inclusive learning environment for participants.
• Monitor behavior, enforce rules, and respond to injuries or emergencies.
• Communicate program information and participant progress with families and staff.
• Assist with attendance, rosters, and basic administrative tasks.
• Follow all safety policies and center guidelines.
