Job summary

The Madison Club in La Quinta, CA seeks an Assistant Golf Professional to support the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in all facets of daily golf operations.

You will help coordinate tournaments, instructional programs, and guest services, while supervising staff and ensuring top-tier service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the coordination and supervision of daily golf and club operations, ensuring smooth execution of member and guest services, tournaments, events, and instructional programs.
  • Provide a welcoming, professional, and accommodating atmosphere for members, guests, and visitors.
  • Manage and oversee golf cart operations, ensuring carts are clean, fully stocked, safe, and ready for use at all times.
  • Oversee practice facilities, ensuring amenities are properly set up, maintained, and replenished throughout the day.
  • Support golf instruction programs, including group clinics, private lessons, and junior development initiatives.
  • Monitor pace of play on the golf course, ensuring adherence to club standards, rules, etiquette, and service protocols.
  • Assist in tournament and event preparation, including logistics, scoring, staffing, and member/guest communications.
  • Conduct basic club repairs and maintain accurate inventory of golf equipment, instructional materials, and supplies.
  • Be knowledgeable about retail operations, including merchandising, inventory management, and sales assistance.
  • Provide exceptional customer service, resolving inquiries, anticipating needs, and maintaining member satisfaction.
  • Supervise golf staff, including scheduling, payroll processing, performance evaluations, and follow-up on assignments.
  • Facilitate staff training, onboarding, and ongoing professional development to maintain a high-performing team.
  • Monitor adherence to club policies, safety procedures, and service standards across golf operations.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure seamless cross-functional operations and communication.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Director of Golf, Head Golf Professional or club management to support operational success.

Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for assisting in the management of daily golf and club operations, ensuring exceptional experience for members and guests. This position supports the Director of Golf and Head Golf Professional in all aspects of the golf operation including but not limited to tournaments, instructional programs, and overall golf services, while maintaining the highest standards of service, professionalism, and club culture. ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Long hours may be required due to business demands.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Enrollment in PGA Professional Golf Management (PGM) program preferred.
  • Class A PGA Professional or actively pursuing PGA membership.
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including standing, walking, and moving continuously for extended periods (5+ hours per shift).
  • Ability to meet the physical demands of the position including, but not limited to, working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions, standing, walking, and moving for periods of greater than eight (8) hours, and lifting and carrying items sometimes greater than fifty (50) pounds.
  • Capability to operate golf carts, instructional equipment, and other club machinery safely.
  • Ability to work in office and field settings, alternating between seated administrative tasks and active outdoor duties.
  • Exposure to cleaning agents, chemicals, and golf course maintenance equipment with proper protective measures.
  • Ability to stay calm and focused during the busiest of times.
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English; additional languages preferred.
