Job summary

Illini Country Club in Springfield, IL, is seeking an Assistant Golf Course Superintendent. This leadership-heavy role requires making key decisions about the daily operation and long-term goals of the golf course maintenance department.

You will focus on turfgrass maintenance, asset management, personnel and financial management, irrigation, pesticide applications, and regulatory compliance, with emphasis on career development and a positive workplace culture.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience in golf course maintenance leadership preferred.
• 2-year or 4-year degree or certificate in turf management preferred.
• Valid driver's license.
• Pesticide application license within 60 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Assist with all phases of Golf Maintenance and Agronomic operations, cost control, and personnel management.
• Coordinate with the Director of Agronomy, Golf Course Superintendent, Golf Professional, and ICC Leadership on maintenance issues.
• Assist in directing and participate in the grounds maintenance of turf, trees, and wetlands.
• Help ensure the grounds department is run in a fiscally responsible and professional manner.
• Work outside for long periods in all kinds of weather; overtime, weekends, and holidays on a rotational basis.
• Assist in hiring, training, and coaching the golf grounds team.
