Job summary

Savannah Lakes Village in Augusta, GA seeks a Golf Course Assistant Superintendent to oversee daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways and roughs, manage staff, and ensure irrigation and drainage systems operate efficiently.

Associate's degree in turfgrass/landscape management and 2+ years of experience preferred; valid driver's license; ability to obtain SC pesticide license; physical ability to lift 50 pounds.

Qualifications

• Associate's degree in turfgrass and/or landscape management (or related field), and/or equivalent experience required.
• Minimum two (2) years' experience as a Golf Course Manager or Assistant Superintendent at a resort or private club setting preferred.
• Working knowledge of turf maintenance, irrigation systems and herbicide/pesticide application.
• Valid driver's license with a good driving record required.
• Ability to obtain a SC pesticide license within six months.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unaided.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and directs daily maintenance of greens, tees, fairways and roughs, including mowing, fertilization and herbicide/insecticide programs.
• Schedules work assignments and supervises equipment operators and other maintenance staff.
• Instructs staff on the proper operation and care of mowing and other maintenance equipment.
• Supervises and participates in the operation and maintenance of irrigation and drainage systems.
• Directs maintenance and repair of motorized and mechanical equipment; assists with equipment inventory.
• Assists in planning and laying out course maintenance projects.
• Conducts regular inspections of the course and related facilities, reporting deficiencies or safety hazards.
• Assists with preparation and administration of the maintenance budget.
• Assists with hiring, training and supervising maintenance employees.
• Maintains a safe work environment and enforces safety and health procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned by manager.
• The duties and responsibilities of this position are not limited to this description and the Golf Course Assistant Superintendent may perform a combination of other functions when needed.

GENERAL SUMMARY
