Omni Hotels & Resorts is seeking a Assistant Golf Course Mechanic for Barton Creek Country Club.

We are looking for a reliable and skilled Assistant Mechanic to support the maintenance and repair of our equipment fleet.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on gasoline- and diesel-powered golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Assist in developing and implementing a preventative maintenance program to ensure optimal performance and extend equipment lifespan.
• Inspect, identify, and resolve mechanical issues related to engines, hydraulics, and electrical systems.
• Maintain accurate service logs and use basic computer systems to track maintenance activities and ensure compliance.
• Prepare and inspect all maintenance equipment daily to ensure it is fueled, lubricated, and ready for operation.
• Modify, adjust, or set up new and existing equipment to meet golf course operational needs.
• Handle, recycle, and dispose of hazardous materials safely, following environmental and safety guidelines.
• Apply welding and light fabrication skills for repairs and modifications as needed.
• Operate turf maintenance equipment for diagnostics and repairs when necessary.
• Collaborate with the Equipment Manager and grounds team, attending training sessions and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support maintenance operations.

Qualifications

• Minimum of one (1) year of mechanical experience.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions while repairing equipment.
• Proficiency in welding and fabrication.
• Understanding of engine mechanics (gas and diesel).
• Basic knowledge of hydraulic systems.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Experience operating equipment such as mowers, tractors, and utility vehicles.
• Basic computer skills for maintenance tracking.
• Familiarity with golf and maintenance schedules.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull moderate to heavy items.
• Physical ability to perform tasks involving walking, standing, climbing, bending, reaching, squatting, and kneeling.
• Capacity to perform physically demanding tasks in outdoor environments.

Working Environment:

• Outdoor work in varying weather conditions.
• Proximity to golfers and active play areas.
• Exposure to machinery and equipment hazards.

Tools and Equipment:

• Hand tools, trimming tools, transportation vehicles, chainsaws, pole saws, mowing equipment, tractors, backhoes, sprayers, fertilizer spreaders, and mixing equipment.
