Job summary

Abilene Christian University is seeking a Golf Coach to instruct student-athletes in golf principles and techniques, while fostering their mental and spiritual growth. This role involves evaluating and recruiting potential student-athletes, assisting in social media efforts, and participating in fundraising initiatives.

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) and coaching experience, along with strong communication and organizational skills, to effectively lead and develop student-athletes.

Job description

Responsibilities

• Coaching and teaching student‑athletes: instruct golf principles, skills, and techniques; develop mental, spiritual, and relational goals.
• Recruiting: evaluate and recruit potential golf student‑athletes through mail‑outs, phone contacts, and personal visits; establish relationships with high‑school coaches, instructors, recruiting services, and other sources.
• Assist Social Media Coordinator and fundraising efforts.
• Assist in all aspects of recruiting student‑athlete development.
• Other duties as directed by the Head Men’s Golf Coach.

NCAA Regulations

Understand and comply with NCAA rules for yourself and your student‑athletes. Report any violations immediately to the Director of Athletics or designee.

Professional Development and Qualifications

• Adept interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills; extensive knowledge of golf and coaching.
• Experience creating digital content.
• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• Coaching experience with leadership or management roles.
• Self‑motivated, resourceful, and creative.
• Strong communication and professional skills; ability to work well with all levels of staff, faculty, and administration.

Physical Demands

Endure harsh weather conditions; perform golf techniques; adapt to long, extended hours of travel and drive team van long distances.
