ASSISTANT VARSITY GIRLS WRESTLING COACH - GARFIELD HIGH SCHOOL

The Akron Board of Education announces a vacancy for Assistant Varsity Girls Wrestling Coach at Garfield High School.

Qualifications

Required:

• Previous interscholastic high school and/or youth wrestling coaching experience.
• Appropriate CPR and Pupil Activity Certification prior to the start of the season.
• Strong knowledge of wrestling skills, fundamentals, rules, etc.
• Willingness to commit to evening and weekend practices and events as scheduled.

Desired:

• Valid Ohio teaching licensure.
• Successful experience as a teacher.
• Current Akron Public Schools full-time contract teacher.

Position Description

• Assist with development and implementation of the wrestling program within school and Ohio High School Athletic Association regulations.
• Coach and manage student athletes.
• Develop and coordinate the season schedule.
• Develop conditioning and training programs; ensure safety measures.
• Organize and manage practice sessions, ensuring athlete safety.
• Manage coaching staff adherence to guidelines.
• Monitor academic progress; conduct study sessions as needed.
• Coordinate transportation for away games and events.
• Monitor athlete eligibility.
• Assist with college recruitment and scholarships.
• Coordinate use of facilities and equipment.
• Attend workshops and clinics to stay current.
• Report to the Athletic Director and Principal.
