Job Description

• Coaching activities sanctioned by the Virginia High School League.
• Plan and schedule a regular program of practice during the season.
• Coach individual participants in skills for excellent achievement in the sport.
• Assist in selecting, assigning, and evaluating assistant coaches.
• Collaborate with the student activities director and other personnel in recommending purchases of uniforms, equipment, and supplies.
• Oversee or help oversee maintenance, safety, and cleanliness of uniforms, equipment, supplies, and the facility.
• Adhere to all VHSL policies, procedures, and RPS division regulations.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times.
• Issue and collect all school properties used.
• Cooperate in planning an annual recognition program for all qualifying participating students.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications

• All coaches must be licensed teachers regularly employed by the School Board or have special permission from the Superintendent’s office and VHSL.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and manage athletic activities sanctioned by VHSL.
• Bilingual skills, including Spanish, are a plus.
