Assistant Girls Volleyball Coach for the 2025-2026 school year

Job Overview: A volunteer or full‑time position to develop and coach the high school girls volleyball team during the 2025-2026 season.

  • Serves as a role model for student athletes through instruction and actions.
Reports To

The athletic director and the high school principals.

Supervises

All assistant coaches of high school and middle school teams under the athletic director and respective principals.

Job Goal

To instruct athletes in fundamental skills, strategy, and physical training while fostering character development, self‑discipline, and pride of accomplishment.

General
  • The success of athletic programs influences the community’s image and requires balancing performance expectations with sportsmanship and mental health.
  • The position involves extended time, injury risk, and due‑process responsibilities.
  • Coaches must exercise common sense and good judgment where specific guidance is lacking.
Duties And Responsibilities
  • Know and implement all athletic policies approved by the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education.
  • Understand and apply existing system, state, and league regulations consistently.
  • Follow the proper administrative line of command and refer all requests or grievances through the correct channels.
  • Attend all required public, staff, and departmental meetings.
Staff Responsibilities
  • Perform other duties assigned by the athletic director or principal.
Administrative Duties
  • Assist the athletic director in scheduling, transportation, and requirements for tournaments and special events.
  • Help prepare facilities for scheduled sports events or practices and coordinate with maintenance.
  • Provide documentation for state and system physical examination, parental consent, and eligibility requirements.
  • Ensure proper safeguards for equipment and site maintenance.
  • Advise on policy, method, or procedural changes.
Student Responsibilities
  • Mentor each athlete, promoting trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.
  • Monitor student athletes’ grades and conduct.
  • Provide assistance, guidance, and safeguards during practices, games, and travel.
  • Teach training rules and sport regulations.
  • Communicate and follow injury, medical, and emergency programs.
  • Complete injury paperwork promptly.
  • Assist student managers, assistants, and statisticians.
  • Enforce discipline and due process, coordinating with parents when necessary.
  • Assist athletes in college or advanced educational selection.
Finance And Equipment
  • Participate in budgeting with the athletic director, establishing requirements for the next season.
  • Recommend equipment guidelines and ensure operating within budget.
  • Account for all equipment, manage loss and return, issue, store, and recondition equipment, and submit annual inventory records.
  • Properly identify equipment and monitor rooms and offices, controlling access.
  • Inspect locker rooms for cleanliness and maintain equipment hygiene.
  • Secure building property and educate players on equipment care.
Public Relations
  • Organize parents, coaches, players, and guests for preseason meetings.
  • Promote the sport within the school by recruiting athletes not on other teams and through little league programs or other feasible means.
  • Ensure accuracy of oral or written releases to local media.
  • Maintain good relations with news media, booster club, parents, officials, volunteers, and fans.
Conduct

Remain free of alcohol, non‑prescribed controlled substance, and abuse of prescribed substances during employment.

Serve as a role model for students in responsible conduct and democratic values.

Terms of Employment

Per the Mansfield City Schools Board of Education/Mansfield School Employees Association Negotiated Agreement.
