Position Overview

The Assistant Track and Field Coach will support the Head Coach in the development and operation of a competitive and educational track and field program. This position emphasizes individual skill development, teamwork, sportsmanship, discipline, and personal growth while helping student-athletes reach their athletic and academic potential. The coach will assist in creating a positive program culture that promotes commitment, accountability, and pride in representing MMCRU High School.

Salary

$2,800.00 + applicable experience lanes (per district schedule)

Primary Responsibilities

• Assist the Head Coach in planning and conducting practices, meets, team activities, and seasonal training programs.
• Provide instruction and guidance in track and field events, including event-specific techniques, conditioning, and competition strategies.
• Support the development of student-athletes through appropriate training, skill development, goal setting, and individualized instruction.
• Attend mandatory IAHSAA rules meetings, clinics, and any additional state or district-required training.
• Foster positive relationships with student-athletes, encouraging personal, academic, and athletic growth.
• Promote a positive team culture emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, character development, and accountability.
• Communicate effectively with the Head Coach, Activities Director, student-athletes, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
• Assist with meet preparation, event assignments, equipment organization, transportation, and other program logistics.
• Support the Head Coach with administrative responsibilities, including athlete eligibility, attendance, records, and team documentation.
• Ensure compliance with all policies established by the MMCRU School Board, school district, conference, and IAHSAA regulations.
• Maintain proper care, inventory, and security of track and field equipment and facilities.
• Perform other coaching-related duties as assigned by the Head Coach, Activities Director, or Administration.
