Qualifications

• Valid West Virginia teaching certificate or WV Coach Authorization.
• Successful background check completed.
• Thorough knowledge of coaching principles and practices.
• Knowledge of budgeting and financial arrangements.
• Familiarity with the rules and regulations of the sport and ability to work with staff, athletes and the public.

Responsibilities

• Adhere to all federal, state, and district laws and policies.
• Promote the district mission and academic goals within the program.
• Coach athletes to develop skills, discipline, sportsmanship, and self-esteem.
• Plan and schedule a regular practice program during the season.
• Prepare eligibility lists and share with building Principal and Athletic Director.
• Coordinate with the Athletic Director on intramural and interscholastic contests.
• Recommend equipment, supplies, and uniforms as appropriate.
• Supervise equipment storage and care.
• Ensure safety conditions of the athletic facility.
• Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike conduct; manage penalties for students.
• Evaluate staff per policy and submit evaluations to the Athletic Director.
• Inventory equipment post-season and list future needs.
• Appoint someone to report home scores to news media.
• Attend Booster Club meetings with assistance.
• Maintain letters and awards distribution.
• Observe and follow Regulation 4020.01.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
