Job summary

EquipmentShare in Milwaukee, WI seeks an Assistant General Manager (Site Solutions - Trench Safety) to lead trench safety operations and daily site activities. You will oversee inventory, procurement, vendor relations, safety policy implementation, and training to support branch performance.

You will collaborate with the General Manager on monthly P&L reviews, ensure DOT compliance, and drive continuous improvement in safety and efficiency across the location.

We’re hiring an Assistant General Manager (Site Solutions - Trench Safety) at our rental facility in Milwaukee, WI, and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction.

Salary range: $65,000 - $85,000. Factors including past experience and location may affect final compensation rate.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Understand and manage trench boxes and stackers, manhole and water-tap boxes, spreader pipe, road plates, Build-A-Box systems, vertical hydraulic shores, ground protection mats, bedding/rock boxes, trench rigging, safety rails, trench ladders, davit/retrieval systems, pipe plugs, and related accessories.
  • Create and maintain healthy vendor relationships. Including service, delivery and office related material needs.
  • Complete invoice review and maintenance.
  • Procurement of all items needed for daily operation of the facility.
  • Maintain DOT compliance records.
  • Weekly inventory audits for parts and assets.
  • Implement and maintain safety policies for all employees at the location
  • Assist General Manager to ensure maximum branch performance through efficient execution of procedures.
  • Review monthly profit and loss statements with the General Manager to understand the business and business trends.
  • Monitor metrics including, but not limited to: equipment utilization; underperforming assets; warranty recovery; billed mechanical hours; aged receivables and customer satisfaction.
  • Conduct weekly safety meetings with all location employees.
  • Ensure all branch employees have been properly trained on all equipment. Conduct and orchestrate all required training. Manage all records of completion.
  • Assisting the General Manager in maintaining a safe and healthy work environment by establishing, following and enforcing standards and procedures while complying with legal regulations.
  • Ensure serialized assets and bulk inventory are accurately received, labeled, counted, stored, organized, and routinely reconciled through physical inventory checks.
  • Monitor work orders and make-readies, ensure equipment is inspected before and after rental, maintain fleet rent-ready status, promptly document damage or missing components, and coordinate necessary repairs and parts.
  • Verify and process rental orders accurately, coordinate equipment, drivers, deliveries, and pickups, ensure timely off-rent completion, and maintain clear customer communication regarding schedules and changes.
  • Ensure employees understand basic excavation and trench safety requirements relevant to their roles.

Skills & Qualifications
  • You have a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Education and Experience:
  • You have at least 3-4 years of rental industry experience, preferably in a management role.
  • Working knowledge of excavation, trench safety, and OSHA/DOT requirements; experience with trench safety equipment is highly preferred.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
