Job summary

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is seeking an Assistant General Manager to orchestrate memorable guest experiences by leading a trained, passionate team. Responsibilities include floor operations, scheduling, service standards, reservations, end-of-day reporting, inventory, and safety compliance.

Work spans opening/closing duties, staff development, and close collaboration with Culinary leadership to ensure service excellence and menu knowledge across beer, wine, and resort offerings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in high volume, high quality, casual fine dining leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management preferred.
  • New Mexico Food Handler & Alcohol Server Certifications required upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Complete opening and closing manager duties per SOPs and end-of-day reporting.
  • Lead front-of-house team, assign duties, monitor performance, coach staff, schedule breaks.
  • Assist GM with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management and staff development.
  • Maintain visible guest presence, resolve service issues, and cultivate The Bavarian hospitality experience.

Description

The goal of the Assistant General Manager is to orchestrate memorable and unique guest experiences by leading a team of well-trained, inspired, and passionate individuals. Duties include floor operations, scheduling, service standards, guest satisfaction, reservations, opening/closing, end of day reporting, inventory, waste recording, sanitation, safety, incident documenting and reporting, and other duties as assigned by the General Manager.

  • Complete opening and closing manager duties in accordance with departmental checklists, standard operating procedures, and end-of-day reporting processes.
  • Lead, supervise, and support front-of-house team members by assigning responsibilities, monitoring performance, coaching staff, and ensuring appropriate staffing and break schedules throughout each shift.
  • Assist the General Manager with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, performance management, and staff development while fostering a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
  • Maintain a visible presence throughout the restaurant by engaging with guests, anticipating needs, professionally resolving service issues, and cultivating the distinctive hospitality experience of The Bavarian.
  • Partner closely with Culinary leadership to ensure effective communication, coordinated service, consistent food quality, and timely execution throughout each service period.
  • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of food menus, beer, wine, and resort offerings to support staff development and enhance the guest experience.
  • Oversee daily front-of-house administrative functions, including POS operations, timekeeping, tip reporting, reservations, and operating supply orders.
  • Monitor inventory, waste tracking, labor, financial reports, and operational performance while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency, control costs, and enhance the overall guest experience.
  • Ensure compliance with all health, safety, responsible alcohol service, and company policies while maintaining a clean, organized, and guest-ready restaurant.
  • Support the planning and execution of private events and special functions.
  • Demonstrate flexibility to support operational needs, including assisting in front-of-house positions when business demands require.
  • Reliable attendance on all scheduled workdays.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Knowledge:
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in high volume, high quality, casual fine dining leadership.
  • Bachelor's degree in Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management is preferred.
  • Candidate must have New Mexico Food Handler & Alcohol Server Certifications upon hire.
  • Proficiency building and maintaining FOH systems of operation.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, etc.).
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Taos Ski Valley, Inc. is often a fast-paced work environment, especially during Holiday and Peak days. TSVI is located in a high-altitude alpine environment. Position may require travel on uneven, snow-packed, or icy terrain and may be exposed to wet, cold, and/or humid conditions. Must be able to work in close quarters and with other staff.

Physical Demands of Position Include:

Will often lift up to 25 pounds and occasionally up to 50 pounds. 80-100% of the time will be spent standing, walking, reaching, talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling. 25-50% of the time may be spent climbing/balancing and sitting less than 15% of the time. This position requires individuals to speak and hear as they interact with guests on a frequent basis. This position will require individuals to be out in winter conditions 5-10% of the time.

Positions dealing with children, of safety-sensitive and/or confidential nature, require driving or positions that handle cash may require a background check and MVR check. Employment is contingent upon a favorable background check and MVR check.
