Assistant Manager
As a Restaurant Assistant Manager, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Restaurant General Manager (RGM). You will manage shifts, complete administrative duties, and ensure that the restaurant runs consistently to Taco Bell standards. Your responsibilities include supervising the performance of team members, maintaining health and safety standards, and managing facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operational Leadership: Assist the RGM in overseeing daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, cash handling, and shift management.
- Maintain restaurant cleanliness, sanitation standards, and adherence to food safety regulations.
- Optimize resource and equipment usage to maximize profitability and minimize waste.
- Team Management and Development: Supervise and train crew members and shift managers, providing coaching and feedback.
- Sponsor scheduling and staffing to meet operational needs.
- Conduct performance evaluations and recommend disciplinary actions in collaboration with the RGM.
- Customer Satisfaction: Resolve customer inquiries and complaints; uphold high service standards.
- Ensure all team members deliver excellent hospitality aligned with brand expectations.
- Financial Management: Monitor sales, expenses, and labor costs; help achieve financial targets.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports to identify improvement opportunities.
- Inventory and Supply Chain Management: Manage inventory levels, place orders, and oversee proper storage and rotation of products.
- Reduce shortages and maintain product quality and freshness.
- Compliance and Safety: Enforce health, safety, and sanitation regulations; conduct regular inspections.
- Audit operations to maintain cleanliness and safety standards.
- Communication and Collaboration: Communicate operational updates and metrics to staff and corporate.
- Coordinate with kitchen, service, and support staff to ensure seamless operations.
- Assistant Manager Behaviors: Solve customer complaints quickly; give positive feedback; follow policies on cash, security, inventory, and labor; read and act on reports.
Requirements
- Proven experience in a supervisory or assistant management role within the restaurant industry.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills; ability to motivate and inspire teams.
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills; ability to prioritize tasks.
- Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Education and Certification
- High school diploma or equivalent (required); college degree in Hospitality Management or related field (preferred).
- Food safety certification (e.g., ServSafe) is advantageous.
Physical Requirements
- Stand, walk, and move around the restaurant for extended periods.
- Lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
- Work in a fast‑paced, sometimes stressful environment.
