Applegreen USA Welcome Centers in Elizabeth, NJ is seeking an Assistant General Manager to help run daily operations across multiple travel plazas. You will lead a team, supervise staff, and ensure service standards and brand guidelines are followed.

You will develop shift plans, coach employees, manage cash and reports, and maintain strong customer service while supporting the General Manager to meet performance goals.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team.
• Excellent customer service and positive attitude.
• Strong verbal and written communication with business acumen.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in quick-service restaurant or similar management operations.
• Flexible and open work schedule.
• Basic food safety understanding and practice.

Responsibilities

• Deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non-management associates, assign work, coach shift supervisors, and focus on store performance.
• Perform duties in the absence of the General Manager.

What You’ll Do

The Assistant General Manager helps the General Manager to ensure day‑to‑day business operations run smoothly. This position provides an opportunity for entry‑level managers to learn important management skills and practice judgment and discretion.

Role Priorities And Responsibilities

• Confidently deliver performance feedback, set goals, foster teamwork, and communicate business objectives.
• Supervise non‑management associates, assign work, focus on store performance, coach, and develop shift supervisors.
• Competently perform duties in the absence of the General Manager.
• Motivate and positively influence staff, especially during low morale.
• Demonstrate strong leadership and organizational skills.
• Address issues in a timely fashion.
• Ensure company policies and procedures are followed.
• Maintain awareness of all applicable brand standards and procedures to maximize brand, landlord, and labor relations.
• Maintain the restaurant’s cleanliness, appearance, and brand standards.
• Accurately manage cash and process daily reports as directed.
• Address customer needs, resolve issues, and build positive, long‑term relationships.
• Ensure inventory data is accurate through spot counts and checks.
