Job summary

Miss J’s Cafe seeks an energetic Assistant General Manager (AGM) to support the General Manager in overseeing day-to-day operations and delivering excellent guest experiences. You will lead front- and back-of-house teams, ensure food safety, manage inventory, and help achieve sales targets in a dynamic restaurant setting.

The role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills, plus flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Assist the General Manager with daily operations including opening/closing procedures.
• Oversee dining room and kitchen operations during shifts to ensure smooth service.
• Manage inventory, ordering, and deliveries to ensure stock levels meet business needs.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Lead front- and back-of-house staff and assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and scheduling.
• Coach and support staff to maintain high performance and guest satisfaction.
• Help resolve employee conflicts and promote teamwork and a positive workplace culture.
• Monitor service quality and address customer concerns in a timely manner.
• Promote a welcoming environment aligned with Miss J's Diner's brand and values.
• Step in to serve guests when necessary to ensure timely and excellent service.
• Assist in achieving sales and profitability targets.
• Monitor labor costs, reduce waste, and help manage operational expenses.
• Review daily sales reports and work with the GM to implement cost control strategies.

The AGM ensures the smooth and efficient running of the diner, delivering excellent customer service, maintaining food quality and safety standards, and supporting a positive and motivated team environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Support

• Assist the General Manager with daily operations including opening/closing procedures.
