Overview

All managers, regardless of position, share responsibility of and are accountable for following the World Wide Wings Manager Description in conjunction with the following job description specific to this position in the company.

Bench/Assistant General Manager Purpose

The Bench/Assistant General Manager (AGM) assists the General Manager with overseeing the operation of the entire restaurant, maintaining a safe environment, and improving bottom line profitability through appropriate revenue management. In addition to supervising the operation of the restaurant on a shift‑by‑shift basis, the AGM plays a key role in staffing, training, and quality control.

Team
  • Assist the General Manager with overall restaurant staffing planning
  • Assist other managers with hiring decisions for all departments
  • In partnership with the General Manager, conduct informative, focused weekly manager meetings
  • Create, develop and implement incentive programs and contests with assigned Department Managers
  • Actively motivate Team Members to participate in all company promotions and incentives
  • Provide regular performance feedback and recognition to Department Managers and Team Members, including timely performance appraisals
  • Assist the General Manager with coaching other managers on effective performance management procedures
  • Assist the General Manager with ongoing performance management and development of assigned Department Managers
Guest
  • Actively look for and identify techniques to attract new guests
  • Manage the restaurant’s Guest Comment program; ensure all guest complaints are handled promptly and provide coaching to managers on handling complaints
Quality Operations
  • Facilitate and ensure adherence to new food product rollouts
  • Ensure Department Managers and their teams meet or exceed company standards for serving quality products, recipe adherence, and portioning
  • Communicate areas of opportunity to Department Managers
  • Help the General Manager teach, coach, and direct managers and Team Members on quality, service, cleanliness standards, and proper inventory levels
  • Understand and analyze pertinent sections of restaurant performance measurement tools (GEM, QSCs, audits, P&L) and troubleshoot problem areas; work with Department Managers to create action plans and follow up for completion
  • Conduct administrative manager functions including entering invoices, inventory, and end‑of‑day procedures
  • Monitor all repair and maintenance and manage the preventative maintenance program, communicating needs to appropriate persons
Sales and Profits
  • Hold Department Managers accountable for costs directly associated with their departments
  • Maintain proper inventory levels of all food and paper products
  • Participate in departmental meetings for Department Managers and assist with communicating successes, new procedures, and areas of opportunity
  • Establish daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly projections
  • Understand the P&L statement, create action plans for problem areas
  • Assist the General Manager in creating and developing the annual restaurant budget
  • Teach Department Managers how to meet or exceed budgeted profit goals, react to trends, and troubleshoot problem areas
  • Complete all other assigned duties or tasks

Qualifications
  • Candidates must be highly motivated, self‑directed, and results‑driven with strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and professional written and verbal communication skills
  • Exhibit the ability and desire to create a fun, exciting environment for both guests and Team Members
  • Be skilled with basic mathematical computations
  • Demonstrate proven track record of successfully managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced work environment
  • Maintain confidential information and adhere to and enforce company policies, programs, and compliance issues
  • Bring a minimum of 2 years of restaurant or retail management experience, and experience managing a restaurant with a full bar is preferred
  • Have completed a high school education or equivalent, a valid driver’s license to travel between units, a satisfactory background check, and the ability to lift 50 pounds regularly
  • Successfully complete the Buffalo Wild Wings Management Certification program
  • Have successfully managed each department (Greeter/Cashier, Hospitality, Bar, and HOH) for a minimum of three periods each
