Job summary

Salt & Straw on Abbot Kinney in Los Angeles is seeking an Assistant General Manager to partner with the GM, lead shifts, and drive guest experiences in a busy, high-volume shop.

You will plan daily schedules, coach a team of 10+, assist with hiring and training, manage cash and inventory, and help with monthly P&L insights, while sharing our flavor stories and hospitality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2+ years in food service, fast-casual dining, or hospitality.
• 18+ months of progressive leadership experience.
• Led teams of 10+ team members in a high-volume environment.
• Ability to coach, develop, and support people with clarity and care.
• Eager to grow into greater leadership responsibility.
• Available to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the GM to achieve operational, cultural, and financial goals.
• Lead shifts, ensuring smooth operations and guest experiences.
• Plan and execute daily shift schedules, task assignments, and team safety.
• Coach, mentor, and provide feedback to Team Members, Shift Coordinators, and Scoopers.
• Assist with recruiting, hiring, onboarding, training, and retention of a high-performing team.
• Manage cash transactions, inventory, and ensure product quality and food safety.
• Assist with payroll, shop communications, and daily documentation.
• Monitor labor and sales performance and support monthly P&L insights.

What Assistant General Managers Do
