Better Buzz Coffee is seeking an Assistant General Manager in Phoenix to act as the right hand to the General Manager. You will develop and maintain a consistent guest experience aligned with Better Buzz values, while leading a team of baristas and supervisors.

The role emphasizes hospitality, brand execution, and community engagement in a fast-paced cafe environment. The position requires 42 hours per week and pays $26–$28 per hour.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of management in a high-velocity, high-volume coffee or fast casual setting.
• Manager Food Safety Certification.
• Open availability – days, nights, weekends, holidays.
• 45 hours per week.

Responsibilities

• Develop and coach a team of Shift Supervisors, Training Ambassadors and Baristas.
• Promote company culture, values, and mission with integrity.
• Address team concerns with urgency, fairness, clarity and compassion.
• Lead guest experience and ensure brand standards and campaigns are executed.
• Manage metrics, optimize speed of service, and upsell.

The Assistant General Manager is the right hand to General Manager of the cafe. This Assistant General Manager is responsible for creating the Buzz Life experience for all guests and team. The Assistant General Manager serves as a shining example of great service and showcases what it means to build connections at Better Buzz Coffee. This position is responsible for developing and maintaining a consistent Better Buzz Coffee experience that is in line with the values of the company.

Our Assistant General Manager reports to the General Manager of the location. The position requires 42 hours per week and pays hourly at the rate range of $26/hr to $28/hr.

Responsibilities

Assistant General Managers:

Leadership & Team Development

• Help develop a team of Shift Supervisors, Training Ambassadors and Baristas who embody the Better Buzz culture
• Act with integrity, honesty and knowledge to promote the Company’s culture, values and mission
• Alongside your General Manager, address all team concerns with urgency, fairness, clarity, strength and compassion
• Champion a workplace environment free of harassment, discrimination, and retaliation, and ensure all mandated trainings

Guest Experience & Brand Standards

• Lead the team to deliver exceptional guest experience
• Resolve guest concerns professionally and recover the experience with empathy and urgency
• Champion training and readiness for all brand initiatives, promotions, and seasonal campaigns
• Become part of the neighborhood and community

Operational Performance

• Manage to given metrics, identify gaps, build plans to close gaps, cascades plans to team to execute
• Model and lead hospitable service and upselling
• Promote adherence to overall speed of service, fulfillment and drive-thru timeMaintain a high level of guest feedback scores
• Ensure all meal and rest breaks are taken and properly recorded in accordance with state law
• Help ensure proper inventory (Ex. pars, ordering, receiving, rotation, storage, and waste tracking, etc.)
• Maintain cash handling integrity and follow loss prevention protocols
• Enforce brand standards and expectations such as proper uniform, cleanliness, and recipe adherence

Compliance, Safety & Wellbeing

• Maintain food safety and sanitation standards in line with ANSI certified Manager certification and county health requirements
• Comply with all applicable federal, state, and local employment laws, including state specific wage and hour, scheduling, and leave requirements
• Complete and document required incident reporting, including workplace injury, harassment complaints, etc.
• Maintain a safe physical environment for guests and team members and promote a culture of psychological safety

Qualifications

Required:

• 1+ years of prior management experience in a similar high-velocity, high-volume coffee or fast casual environment
• Manager Food Safety Certification
• Open availability - days, nights, weekends, holidays
• 45 hours of work per week

Preferred:

• Associates Degree
• Drive-Thru experience
• New location opening experience
