MERS Missouri Goodwill in OFallon, MO is seeking an energetic Assistant General Manager for our Hwy K store. You will support the Store Manager with operations, budgeting, and staff leadership to achieve goals.

The role offers a strong mission-driven environment and competitive hourly pay. As a full-time hourly position, you’ll drive customer service excellence, manage scheduling and inventory software, and model our core values daily.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college preferred.
• One year of management experience; prior Goodwill retail/warehouse experience preferred.
• Valid MO or IL driver's license and insurance; strong interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in overseeing store operations, resources, and budgets.
• Model core values to ensure safety, ethics, and quality in-store.
• Supervise, train, and direct staff to perform essential functions.
• Provide excellent customer service to retain donors, shoppers, and staff.
• Coach employees on performance; discipline up to termination when needed.
• Assign daily duties to meet operational tasks; identify potential promotable staff.
• Safeguard property and report theft or misconduct to management or LP.
• Read, follow, and enforce agency policies and values.
• Coordinate staffing; arrange replacements; review payroll.
• Eliminate waste through process improvements.
• Maintain professional appearance per dress code.

Qualifications

High School Diploma/GED required; some college preferred. One year of Management experience + Previous Goodwill Retail/Warehouse Experience Preferred. Valid MO or IL state driver’s license and insurance. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including customer service, conflict resolution, and teamwork. Leadership skills include quality decision-making, goal-setting, and problem-solving, with the ability to motivate and lead employees and hold them accountable. Comfortable with workplace technology like registers, scheduling, and inventory management software.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Assists Store Manager in overseeing store operations, resources, and budgets to ensure all goals and benchmarks are met or exceeded.
• Model core values to uphold a culture with an understanding and commitment to safety, ethics, and quality within the store.
• Supervise, direct, and train assigned staff and ensure they perform their essential/primary functions.
• Provide superior internal and external customer service to ensure repeat donors, shoppers, and staff retention and de-escalate customer dissatisfaction quickly and effectively.
• Coach and counsel employees about the performance of their job duties, including discipline up to and including termination.
• Exercise independent judgment in assigning daily job duties to achieve daily operational tasks.
• Helps to identify and recommend employees with proven performance for advancement.
• Safeguards company property and personal information from harm, damage, or theft. Reports any theft, misappropriation, unethical/inappropriate behavior, or unauthorized possession of company property to a member of management, Human Resources, or Loss Prevention.
• Must read, follow, model, and enforce all agency policies, procedures, and values.
• Utilizes efficient staffing methods to ensure the store is staffed appropriately. Arranges for replacements of absent employees when necessary. Audits, edits, and approves payroll.
• Eliminates wasteful practices through process improvement.
• Maintains a professional appearance, adhering to MERS Goodwill’s dress code.
• Other duties as assigned.
• Monthly Bonus up to $500.00
• Immediate date of hire individual and family medical benefits for full-time employees working 30 or more hours per week.
• Individual and family dental and vision benefits on the first of the month following the hire date for employees working 20 or more hours week.
• Voluntary Life and AD&D Insurance on the first of the month following the hire date for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
• 403(B) Retirement on date of hire for employees working 20 or more hours per week.
