Job summary

SFE-Southwest Foodservice Excellence seeks an Assistant General Manager to lead daily operations at K–12 sites, ensure top-tier food quality, and deliver a consistent student experience.

You will develop teams, manage labor and costs, uphold food safety standards, and partner with the General Manager to meet district goals while maintaining a welcoming environment for students, staff, and families.

Qualifications

  • 3+ years of foodservice or hospitality experience, including fresh food production.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; degree in food service management, culinary arts, nutrition, business, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with scheduling, labor management (MPLH), inventory, and cost control.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and POS or reporting systems.
  • Must be able to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background check, fingerprinting, and a clean driving record.

  • Oversee daily operations to ensure consistent food quality, portioning, presentation, and service standards.
  • Support team leadership and development: hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
  • Drive financial performance by managing labor (MPLH), food and supply costs, and cash handling.
  • Ensure compliance with company, district, and regulatory food safety, sanitation, labor, and workplace standards.
  • Partner with General Manager and district stakeholders to meet client expectations and deliver outstanding student and staff experiences.

Support, lead, and elevate daily operations across K–12 foodservice sites. As Assistant General Manager, you'll play a key role in team development, cost control, food safety, and service excellence—helping deliver a consistent, high-quality experience that meets district goals and exceeds expectations. You will report to the General Manager.

You Will
  • Oversee daily operations to ensure consistent execution of food quality, portioning, presentation, and service standards while maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment.
  • Support team leadership and development, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management to drive engagement, retention, and productivity.
  • Drive financial performance by managing labor (MPLH), controlling food and supply costs, and ensuring accurate cash handling and adherence to financial policies.
  • Ensure compliance and operational excellence by following all company, district, and regulatory requirements related to food safety, sanitation, labor, and workplace standards.
  • Partner with the General Manager and district stakeholders to meet client expectations, support site operations as needed, and deliver an outstanding customer experience for students, staff, and families.
You Have
  • 3+ years of foodservice or hospitality experience, including fresh food production
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; degree in food service management, culinary arts, nutrition, business, or related field preferred
  • Experience with scheduling, labor management (MPLH), inventory, and cost control
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and POS or reporting systems
  • Must be able to meet all pre-employment requirements, including background check, fingerprinting, and (if applicable) a clean driving record
