About this role:

Wells Fargo is seeking an Assistant General Counsel Vice President as part of the Technology, Digital & Innovation team within the Corporate & Investment Banking; Technology; Innovation & Information Division of the Legal Department.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead complex initiatives with broad impact and act as a key participant in large scale planning
  • Provides guidance to senior management on complex legal and regulatory matters with significant impact on business initiatives, strategy, and performance
  • Assess legal risk associated with all risk types and develops strategies for reducing legal exposure
  • Lead analysis of and response to legal, regulatory, reputational, compliance, and policy matters within area of expertise
  • Identify and analyze complex legal issues, develop conclusions, and make recommendations for issue resolution
  • Serve as the primary legal contact for assigned clients
  • Collaborate within the department and across business and staff functions to address legal and risk issues in a manner consistent with the best interests of Wells Fargo.
  • Take an active role in the development, oversight, and delegation of tasks to more junior staff.
  • Be knowledgeable, experienced, and proficient with legal issues and related laws and regulations relating to digital platforms and properties, digital enablers, online and mobile banking, data aggregation, open banking, and screen scraping, including laws related to electronic financial services; drafting terms of use and online customer agreements; and third-party risk management.
  • Participate in industry trade association meetings and preparing or assisting in the preparation of comment letters on proposed regulatory changes.

Required Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of Law experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
  • Active State Bar membership or the equivalent in a country outside the United States

Desired Qualifications:

  • Significant expertise in legal, regulatory, and compliance issues relating to digital content, authentication, marketing and advertising, consumer and small business financial products/services, wholesale banking products/services, and innovation.
  • Knowledge of laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance (including Federal Communications Commission Act, CAN-SPAM, COPPA, ADA) relating to electronic delivery of disclosures, web accessibility, digital authentication, data security and privacy.
  • Knowledge of legal issues and related laws and regulations involving digital platforms and properties (customer-facing digital channels, public-facing digital accessibility, etc.), digital enablers (chatbots, authentication, fraud prevention), online and mobile banking, data aggregation, open banking, and screen scraping, including laws related to electronic financial services (e.g., ESIGN, EFTA, TCPA, GLBA, FTC, FFIEC guidance, and ADA web accessibility); drafting terms of use and online customer agreements; and third-party risk management
  • Broad experience with large and often enterprise-wide, global, or multinational technology and operations projects, involving a geographically diverse customer base, diverse personal technology, FinTech, and diverse levels of digital-media user experience.
  • Ability to analyze legal and regulatory issues in area of practice and provide effective verbal and written advice to clients on complex legal matters
  • Ability to work effectively in a complex environment with a high degree of collaboration.

Pay Range

Reflected is the base pay range offered for this position. Pay may vary depending on factors including but not limited to achievements, skills, experience, or work location. The range listed is just one component of the compensation package offered to candidates.

$144,400.00 - $300,000.00
