Position Purpose : The Assistant General Counsel Real Estate must believe in, practice and initiate all Green Brick Partners values set forth in an acronym we call HOME. They must be H onest, O bjective, M ature and E fficient in how he or she approaches their role at Green Brick Partners.

Green Brick Partners, Inc. seeks to hire an Assistant General Counsel to represent Green Brick Partners and its subsidiaries in real estate and related matters. This role will be involved primarily with providing legal advice and support to our land acquisition and development teams and drafting and reviewing a wide range of related agreements. This role requires a broad understanding of real estate transactions and related law and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment to manage complex legal transactions.

Responsibilities :

  • Land Acquisition and Disposition : Draft and review LOIs, purchase agreements, development agreements with third parties, handle all aspects of title and survey review, closing documents, joint venture agreements and loan / finance documents.
  • Corporate Governance : Prepare formation documents, consents and corporate resolutions.
  • Lot Acquisition and Disposition : Draft and review lot contracts, review title and prepare closing documents.
  • Land Development : Review documents for special purpose districts, draft development agreements with municipalities, review vendor agreements, provide support for entitlement procurement, zoning and permitting, HOA related matters and easement and license agreements.
  • Work closely with land acquisition team, land development team, accounting team and builders.
  • Provide support and research for other areas of business, including disputes and litigation as needed.
  • Work with and manage outside counsel.

Supervision of Others : N / A

Authority / Budget / Decision Making / Discretion and Independent Judgment Ability : This position carries the high-level critical decision-making responsibility while reviewing, revising and signing contracts

Qualifications : Education :

  • Masters Degree in Law required (J.D preferred)

Experience :

  • Ten to fifteen years of experience in a law firm environment in a related field
  • Eight or more years of Real Estate or related experience
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to work with a team and independently
  • Identify risks while balancing business objectives
  • Broad knowledge of real estate law, including survey and title practice and entity formation and operation
  • Must be licensed to practice in Texas and in good standing with the Texas State Bar

terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and / or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision.
