Job summary

Artech, a New York-based construction manager specializing in high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality projects, seeks a senior legal leader in New York City to oversee contracts and risk with a hybrid work schedule.

You will review, negotiate, and manage contracts and subcontracts, advise on risk, and lead negotiations with clients and external counsel. A NY Bar and JD with extensive construction-law experience are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 12 years of relevant construction legal experience, including 4 years of leadership experience.
  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school and at least 10 years of experience as a practicing attorney in construction projects.
  • Admission to the bar in the State of New York.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Engage in legal matters, reviewing, preparing, and negotiating contracts and subcontracts.
  • Identify risks and prepare legal advice, contributing to risk assessments and project approvals.
  • Provide counsel on collateral matters arising from business transactions.
  • Collaborate with commercial and operations teams to protect company interests and minimize risk.
  • Manage external counsel in judicial and administrative litigation and claims.
  • Work with Human Resources, Analysts, and Insurance departments to review contracts and bids.
  • Lead negotiations between the company and its clients.
  • Deliver varied technical and professional activities with a commitment to deadlines.

Join our dynamic team in New York City, NY, where you'll support exciting construction projects. Our company is a New York-based construction manager specializing in high-rise commercial, residential, and hospitality projects. This position offers flexibility for a hybrid work schedule, combining in-office and virtual work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Engage in legal matters, reviewing, preparing, and negotiating contracts and subcontracts.
  • Identify risks and prepare legal advice, contributing to risk assessments and project approvals.
  • Provide counsel on collateral matters arising from business transactions.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Over ten years of legal experience in building construction.
  • Experience with a larger General Contractor in the vertical construction market.
  • Project experience in high-rise residential and/or hospitality.
  • Expertise in real estate, construction, and insurance policies.
  • Experience in litigation/dispute resolution proceedings.
  • Dynamic, confident, flexible, and proactive with strong communication skills.
Additional Information

This position does not include sponsorship for United States work authorization. Relocation assistance is not offered. Compensation will be based on education, qualifications, experience, and work location, ranging from USD 240,000 to USD 280,000 yearly.
