We are seeking a highly motivated, flexible and smart attorney or paralegal to join the Legal Department of Safra National Bank.

The Legal Department is responsible for providing legal services to the Bank and its US affiliates across all functions, and aims to address legal, regulatory and business developments effectively and in a timely manner.

The Bank is currently searching for an Assistant General Counsel with strong contract review skills. The role will report to the Chief Legal Officer and will provide legal support for all aspects of the business, including transactions, product development, services, bank vendors agreements, regulatory changes, integration efforts with potentially acquired institutions or portfolios, advise on the full range of federal and state laws and regulations applicable to banking products and services.

While the Bank is headquartered in New York, NY, it also has branches in other states. The Assistant General Counsel can work from either our branch in Aventura, FL or, preferably, our NY headquarters. 8-10 years of experience is desirable. The ideal candidate will have worked in financial services and have strong contract review skills.

Responsibilities

• Negotiating and drafting vendor agreements, consulting agreements, NDAs, customer contracts and other merchant services agreements.
• Reviewing banking policies, procedures, communications, articles, and marketing materials.
• Working closely with control and compliance officers that support merchant services and lending and banking services.
• Advising business leaders on legal and business risks relating to various marketing channels, product development, credit and risk, business initiatives and other matters.
• Counseling and advising the business team on legal, strategic and tactical issues relating to their business.
• Collaborating with other functional partners to ensure appropriate awareness and escalation of issues as they arise while being sensitive to confidentiality restrictions.

Qualifications:

In addition to the requisite legal credentials and experience, candidates should possess:

• Approximately 8-10 years of practicing experience. Prior in-house experience and/or experience with financial services transactions would be a significant plus.
• Strong legal and technical drafting skills.
• Transactional and negotiating experience.
• A proven ability to comfortably operate in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment.
• The ability to think tactically, see past the question and understand the wider strategy.
• All candidates for roles in the Legal Department must successfully complete a conflicts of interest clearance review and background check prior to commencement of employment.
