Qualifications

  • Juris Doctor from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in one or more appropriate jurisdictions.
  • Five or more years of relevant, progressive experience as a practicing lawyer.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to simplify complex issues and facilitate across regions and cultures.
  • Strong attention to detail, critical thinking and problem-solving aligned with client objectives.
  • Ability to operate with minimal supervision and develop practical legal solutions.

  • Coordinate and direct external counsel and other third-party providers.

Position Summary

Lead environmental counsel supporting all business segments and the corporate Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) function.

Scope, Supervision & Interaction

Reports directly to Associate General Counsel (Key Practice Area Leader).

Works closely with EHS executives and other leaders across the company.

Also works closely with Legal Department team members and external advisors; does not currently have direct reports.

This position is based at Parker’s Global Headquarters in Mayfield Heights, Ohio.

Essential Functions
  • Lead and manage the legal aspects of environmental risks, liabilities, transactions and compliance, including those involving asset transfer, development, siting, operation, and permitting; CERCLA, RCRA, TSCA, FIFRA and other environmental regulations and state equivalents; hazardous waste cleanup; insurance coverages; and administrative and court actions and proceedings.
  • Operate as a trusted business partner supporting Parker strategies, focusing on client experience, value creation, continuous improvement, and having a positive impact on culture and values.
  • Collaborate with other Legal Department team members and external advisors to identify and resolve a wide range of legal challenges.
  • Lead and actively participate in Legal Department and Practice Area strategy deployment and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Efficiently coordinate, manage and provide direction to external counsel and other third‑party service providers as needed.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
