Overview

A substantial part of the 200-acre Viking Lakes mixed-use development, this destination is home to the Minnesota Vikings headquarters, Twin Cities Orthopedics Performance Center, and TCO Stadium. The location is easily accessible from downtown Minneapolis and St. Paul, the Mall of America, and the airport, with additional uses for the planned development including corporate offices, retail, restaurants, and entertainment.

The 320-room luxury hotel features more than 35,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor meeting and pre-function space, including a 7,500-square-foot ballroom, a 4,410-square-foot event center, and six two-story hospitality lounges for groups and meeting planners to utilize. From small board meetings, conferences, and large galas or events to Sunday football tailgates, the Omni Viking Lakes Hotel accommodates groups of all sizes with its robust meetings offerings, multiple food and beverage venues, a signature spa, and state-of-the-art fitness facilities.

Job Description

Omni Viking Lakes Hotel is seeking an Assistant Front Office Manager. This team member will ensure maximum Front Office operating efficiency by assisting with the oversight of all operations related to the Front Office, resulting in high levels of guest satisfaction and associate development.

Salary for this position starts at (based on experience): $54,000 - $58,000/year. Full-time associates at Omni Viking Lakes are entitled to benefits including medical, dental, vision, paid maternity leave, 401k, and paid time off accrual. Omni Viking Lakes reserves the right to pay more or less than the listed scale based on factors not related to sex or race.

Responsibilities

  1. Ensure that Four Diamond standards and a consistent level of guest satisfaction are met.
  2. Ensure that all arriving and departing guests are treated with courtesy and served expeditiously by Front Office staff, following proper posting of staff, grooming standards, and MOS standards.
  3. Thoroughly familiarize with the AM and PM checklists, ensuring all reports and checklists are completed.
  4. Understand and perform cash handling processes, ensuring each cashier maintains the bank according to standards.
  5. Be familiar with check-in/check-out procedures, hotel amenities, and local attractions.
  6. Monitor blocking strategy of rooms and make revisions based on guest requests and availability.
  7. Protect guest information and room key access according to SOPs.
  8. Familiarize with and train staff on the Select Guest and GHA programs.
  9. Understand hotel rate plans and codes, and apply rate strategy appropriately.
  10. Monitor guest requests and handle complaints to maintain satisfaction.
  11. Engage in service recovery and handle guest concerns efficiently.
  12. Conduct monthly Moments of Service Audits and participate in guest engagement meetings.
  13. Communicate hotel, guest, and group information daily to staff.
  14. Assist with inventory, supplies, and reports daily.
  15. Adhere to all systems, controls, and responsibilities of the Front Office.
  16. Create and monitor staff schedules, recruit, interview, hire, and train staff.
  17. Conduct performance evaluations, coach staff, and manage payroll and scheduling.
  18. Represent the Omni brand and culture, reinforce engagement principles, and support a positive work environment.
  19. Follow safety, security, and company policies, maintaining confidentiality and protecting assets.

Qualifications

  1. Minimum 1-year Front Office Management experience or participation in the Omni LID program; leadership experience in upscale, full-service hotels preferred.
  2. Proven leadership skills, ability to delegate, train, develop, and motivate staff.
  3. Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written.
  4. Strong organizational skills, ability to multitask, and handle stressful situations calmly.
  5. Valid driver’s license with an excellent driving record.
  6. Ability to work various shifts, including weekends and holidays, possibly overnight.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods.
