The Oasis at Death Valley is situated in a lush, spring-fed desert oasis, surrounded by the vast and arid desert of Death Valley National Park. The Oasis operates the historic AAA Four Diamond Inn and Ranch, restaurants, gift shops, and the world's lowest elevation golf course. Both hotels are open year-round and feature swimming pools fed by naturally warm local springs.

We’re hiring an Assistant Front Desk Manager to Live. Work. Explore. in Death Valley National Park!

Job Summary:
We are looking for an Assistant Front Office Manager to support the Ranch Front Office Manager in day to day operations. This position requires support and training of Xanterra quality standards for the department.

The Details:
Position Type: Full-time Year-round

Start Dates: As soon as possible on next available check in date (approximately three weeks)

Pay: $22.40
Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with Inn and Ranch Front Office Managers and Assistant Managers/Lead on a daily basis to preempt crises and anticipate guest problems.
  • Complete assigned duties and/or tasks as requested by direct supervisor(s).
  • Maintain AAA 4 Diamond standards for Inn Front Office operations.
  • Communicate with Front Office Manager regarding all schedules.
  • Train and cross-train all employees in the operations of the Front Office, Valet/Bell, and Night Audit.
  • Ensure that all specific room requests are blocked in a timely manner.
  • Maintain smooth and open communications with all resort departments.
  • Handle guest situations as they arise to achieve a solution to any and all guest problems before they leave our property.
  • Fill in as needed for Inn Front Office Manager in his/her absence.
    • Communicate with Housekeeping Manager, Executive Housekeeping Manager and Maintenance department to resolve room issues.
    • Inspect VIP rooms
    • Interact with F&B operations to resolve group or guest issues.
    • Make rounds of all guest areas as needed to include the grounds, guest rooms, guest room floors, public spaces, etc.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all employees are aware of the Ecometrix Policy, Xanterra’s company-wide Environmental Management System (EMS) and their roles and responsibilities in achieving conformance to the policy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of hospitality operations.
  • Proven organizational and management skills.
  • Previous experience with hotel management software.
  • Micro’s Opera property management system preferred.
  • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Must be able to type 40 wpm

Physical Requirements include:

  • Requires standing for long periods of time.

  • Must be able to lift 30lbs.
