Job summary

American Youth Foundation’s Merrowvista campus in Tuftonboro, NH seeks an Assistant Four Trails Coordinator to bridge field groups with the Four Trails team. You will check in with younger groups, assist with trip prep, and help reintegrate groups back at camp, providing leadership and support to campers and staff on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 20 by June 30, 2027.
• 2–3 years working or volunteering with youth in recreational or educational settings.
• 2–3 years peer supervision or 2–3 years student leadership.
• 2–3 years organizing and executing recreational programming or event planning.
• Detail-oriented, highly organized and able to take initiative.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to interact with diverse groups respectfully.
• Passion for serving youth and creating inclusive spaces.
• Fully participate in camp community activities and staff training.
• Ability to stay resilient in a fast-paced, youth-centered environment.
• Adhere to AYF staff policies and guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Support the daily operation and administration of the Four Trails program.
• Supervise, guide, and support Four Trails Leaders and campers.
• Regularly check in with younger groups on trips and coordinate with trip leaders.
• Communicate trip updates, concerns, health and logistical needs to the Coordinator/Manager.
• Prepare gear, food, maps, and communications equipment with the Outcamping team.
• Assist with packing and returns, ensuring proper equipment and supplies.
• Maintain organization and inventory of Four Trails gear and consumables.
• Monitor weather and trip progress impacting groups in the field.
• Provide onsite support, lead activities, and maintain a positive group environment.
• Assist with camper check-ins and follow-up on social dynamics and well-being.
• Support staff coverage when leaders are unavailable and assist with emergency response.
• Participate in pre-trip and post-trip debriefs.
