Job summary

Greiner Industries is seeking an experienced Assistant Foreman - Welding to supervise fabrication, fitting, welding, and assembly of structural steel components on the shop floor. This role will plan work, assign crews, coordinate production schedules, ensure quality and safety, and lead teams to hit delivery targets while promoting continuous improvement.

Strong leadership and communication skills are essential to coach staff, resolve issues swiftly, and maintain accurate production and quality

Qualifications

  • Thorough knowledge of structural steel fabrication, fitting, welding, and assembly processes.
  • Strong understanding of welding methods, procedures, materials, and quality standards applicable to structural steel fabrication.
  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe work practices, rigging principles, and environmental compliance requirements.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, organize, and coordinate manpower, equipment, and workflow to meet production goals.
  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, motivate, train, and develop employees.
  • Ability to evaluate work quality, identify production issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, management, customers, vendors, and inspectors.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.
  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and manufacturing or production reporting systems.

Overview

Greiner Industries is seeking a skilled Assistant Foreman supervises and coordinates the daily activities of employees engaged in the fabrication, fitting, welding, and assembly of steel components. This position is responsible for planning and assigning work, managing production schedules, ensuring quality standards are met, enforcing safety requirements, and leading employees to achieve productivity, quality, and delivery objectives. The Assistant Foreman serves as a technical resource and leadership presence on the shop floor while promoting a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Plan and establish work schedules and assignments

  • Coordinate production activities

  • Interpret blueprints, job orders, and production schedules

  • Train and develop employees

  • Monitor quality and productivity

  • Resolve employee and production issues

  • Coordinate with other departments and supervisors

  • Perform other related duties as assigned

Specific Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Thorough knowledge of structural steel fabrication, fitting, welding, and assembly processes.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, specifications, weld symbols, work orders, and production schedules.

  • Strong understanding of welding methods, procedures, materials, and quality standards applicable to structural steel fabrication.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, safe work practices, rigging principles, and environmental compliance requirements.

  • Ability to effectively plan, prioritize, organize, and coordinate manpower, equipment, and workflow to meet production goals.

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to coach, motivate, train, and develop employees.

  • Ability to evaluate work quality, identify production issues, and implement corrective actions.

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with employees, management, customers, vendors, and inspectors.

  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution abilities.

  • Proficiency in maintaining production, labor, quality, and safety records.

  • Working knowledge of overhead cranes, forklifts, material handling equipment, and common fabrication machinery.

  • Ability to enforce company policies, procedures, and performance expectations consistently and professionally.

  • Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Excel, Word, and manufacturing or production reporting systems.
