Job summary

Management & Training Corporation is hiring for a full-time food services supervisory role at the East Mississippi Correctional Facility in Meridian, MS. The position oversees the dining room operation and staff, ensuring compliance with company and state directives.

You will manage food service activities, supervise staff and offenders, maintain sanitary facilities, and uphold safety standards while supporting the facility’s mission to protect the community.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED.
• One year full-time wage-earning experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management, or eighteen months of correctional custody/law enforcement experience.
• Valid driver’s license in Mississippi with acceptable driving record unless waived.

Responsibilities

• Reports to the food service manager and directly supervises the production supervisor, line supervisors, correctional officer staff and offenders assigned to the dining room.
• Responsible for the management of food services, including the offender dining hall and special food services in compliance with MTC and MDOC directives.
• Maintain kitchen equipment and ensure a safe, clean, sanitary work area.
• Count and control all kitchen tools; provide accurate counts at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Supervise offenders in meal preparation.
• Mop, scrub, refinish and spot clean kitchen floors; sanitize rest rooms.
• Maintain accountability of offenders and property; adhere to safety practices.

Job responsibilities

Reports to the food service manager. Directly supervises the production supervisor, line supervisors, correctional officer staff and offenders assigned to the dining room. Responsible for the management of food services, which includes the offender dining hall and special food services in compliance with Management & Training Corporation (MTC) and Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC) directives.

Essential Functions

• Maintains kitchen equipment in orderly workable condition. Ensure work area is safe, clean, and sanitary.
• Ensure count and control of all kitchen tools. Provide an accurate count of all control items at the beginning and end of each shift.
• Supervise offenders in preparation of meals required.
• Mop, scrub, refinish and spot clean kitchen floors.
• Clean, sanitize, and deodorize rest rooms.
• Ensure counts are preformed accurately for all offenders assigned to the kitchen.
• Promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when inappropriate behaviors are observed; provide regular feedback to staff regarding social skills procedures and intervention techniques.
• Maintain accountability of offenders and property; Adhere to safety practices.

It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

Education/Experience Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited senior high school or equivalent or GED. One (1) year full-time, wage-earning experience in correctional, commercial, or institutional food preparation or food service management experience or eighteen (18) months of correctional custody law enforcement experience. Valid driver’s license in the state of Mississippi with an acceptable driving record, unless waived by management.

Post Hire Requirements

Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements and pass an annual background check.
