Job description

Assistant Food and Beverage Director

This role is a key element to the Food and Beverage department with La Colombe D’or.

Listed below are the essential tasks and duties to be executed on a daily, weekly or monthly basis.

RESPONSIBILITIES/REQUIREMENTS:

  1. Enthusiastically and proactively sell the property’s concept to group, corporate and leisure prospects in a way that best illustrates the identity of the brand as innovative and new.
  2. Prospect and qualify all lead sources through cold calls, tele-prospecting, and networking to generate new opportunities.
  3. On a monthly forecast meeting discuss individual and team sales and event sales goals that are to be met or exceeded.
  4. Negotiate contracts ensuring that all pertinent aspects of solicitation and closing are complete and documented in a timely manner.
  5. Pursue new clients through creative/innovative sales techniques and aggressive prospecting.
  6. Manage lead sources to ensure quantity and quality of leads.
  7. Create customized Wedding Packages, Menus, and proposals, etc.
  8. In a professional manner, respond to all customer inquiries within 24 hours or sooner.
  9. Follow proper event management procedures for event execution to include but not limited to BEO creation, F&B forecasting, and room block management on OpenTable.
  10. Produce and distribute accurate banquet/catering event orders, timelines, diagrams, and resumes within timeframe for proper execution.
  11. Coordinate, plan and implement wedding related marketing tactics and events.
  12. Produce and distribute 10-day Events Schedule and BEO Packet, as well as Daily Events Schedule.
  13. Advise the General Manager of all matters relating to Special Events.
  14. Attend weekly leadership meetings and discuss monthly projective upcoming events.
  15. Weekly Special Events Meetings will include Director of Events, Chef, Accountant, Restaurant Manager, Director of Rooms and Director of Food and Beverage.
  16. Drive strategies to develop long term business relationships and repeat business.
  17. Make on-site field presentations, and outside sales calls to prospective clients.
  18. Monitor sales activities/performance to ensure revenue goals meet or exceed established plan and accurately report variance/projections to management.
  19. Ensure that the property is maximizing the use of all company, brand and local LCD programs.
  20. When in the role of MOD, coach team members to drive high levels of performance, job satisfaction, and personal growth.
  21. Develop and maintain positive relationships with peers, competitors and brand partners.
  22. Assist in Developing a Special Events Sales Budget plan in conjunction with the properties executive team and execute marketing-related items.
  23. Add creativity and trend insights into driving events revenue via wedding packages, promotions and public relations.
  24. Work with marketing team, vendors, and agencies.
  25. Use brand opportunities to drive revenue.
  26. Track and report on all event sales activities for hotel.
  27. Track and report on all event planner surveys and feedback.
  28. Keep informed of industry news that affects the organization and shares information with team.
  29. Effectively develop relationships within the community to strengthen and expand customer base for future sales opportunities.
  30. Be an active part of the property management team fostering and developing the LCD hospitality culture.
  31. Stimulate a friendly, cheerful attitude in his/her conduct with other managers, guests, and fellow associates.
  32. Drive product quality and a unique guest experience at every opportunity.
  33. Ensure that all administrative procedures are in place and functioning effectively.
  34. Ensure a challenging and exciting environment to encourage full career development and personal growth.
  35. Maximize revenues through pro-active action rather than re-active.
  36. Work as a member of the yield team to ensure maximum occupancy is achieved at the highest possible average rate via effective setting and monitoring of rate occupancy controls.
  37. Perform all accountabilities in a timely and efficient manner, following established company policy and projecting a favorable image of La Colombe D’or to achieve objectives.

SUPPORTIVE FUNCTIONS (MOD)

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions for front of house:

  1. Assist with any guest inquiry.
  2. Follow all company and safety and security policies and procedures.
  3. Report maintenance problems, safety hazards, accidents, or injuries.
  4. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by the F and B Director and Restaurant manager while most importantly observing that staff keeps consistent with providing excellent service.
