Job summary

Cherry Creek Schools in Centennial, Colorado seeks an assistant football coach to develop student athletes, teach fundamentals, and promote moral values through sport, teamwork and discipline.

You will assist the head coach, plan practices, monitor attendance and academics, ensure athletes are cleared to participate, and help maintain equipment and safety standards in compliance with CCSD, CHSAA, and league rules.

Qualifications

• Assist with the organization and developing the high school program.
• Basic knowledge of football.
• Possess or has the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
• Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSSA coaching registration and complete a concussion course.
• CPR & AED Certification required.

Responsibilities

• The assistant coach reports to the head coach and the high school athletic director.
• Provides the head coach with information pertaining to scores, schedules, sites, discipline concerns, procedures and inventory of supplies and equipment.
• Schedules and attends practice sessions, develops and implements individual/team training plans.
• Makes sure each athlete is cleared from the athletic office to participate.
• Complies with CCSD, Centennial League, and CHSAA rules and regulations.
• Monitors athlete’s attendance/behavior/academic status.
• Ability to use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
• Understands signs of concussion and removes players showing symptoms.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

JOB SUMMARY

Instructs student athletes in the fundamental skills, strategy and physical training necessary for them to realize a degree of individual and team success. At the same time, the student athlete shall receive instruction that will lead to the formulation of moral values, pride of accomplishment, acceptable social behavior, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Develops and promotes good community relations among various community and school clientele.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following tasks describe the basic functions of the job and represent the type of work performed. They do not constitute an exhaustive list of the duties and responsibilities performed on the job. The following frequencies and percentage of time spent are approximations only and are subject to flexibility dependent on organizational needs.

• 1. The assistant coach reports to the head coach and the high school athletic director.
• 2. The assistant coach is responsible for, and supervises all aspects of their level of the program with direction of the head coach.
• 3. Provides the head coach with information pertaining to his/her level of the program (scores, schedules, sites, discipline concerns, procedures and is directly responsible for inventory of supplies and equipment, etc.) Schedules and attends practice sessions, develops and implements individual/team training plans by the day, week, month, year as appropriate for their level in conjunction with the overall program goals/philosophy.
• 4. Makes sure each athlete is cleared from the athletic office to participate.
• 5. Complies with the rules and regulations as established by CCSD, Centennial League, and the Colorado High School Activities Association.
• 6. Monitors athlete’s attendance/behavior/academic status.
• 7. Ability to use approved first-aid and CPR skills.
• 8. Understands the signs and symptoms of concussion and removes players that are exhibiting signs and symptoms of concussion.
• 9. Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

The minimum amounts of formal education, professional work experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities that must be met for a candidate to be considered for a position

• 1. Assist with the organization and developing the high school program.
• 2. Basic knowledge of football.
• 3. Possess or has the ability to acquire a valid Colorado Coaching Certificate.
• 4. Successfully pass the CHSAA coaches test, acquire CHSSA coaching registration and complete a concussion course per State Legislation and CHSAA By-Laws.
• 5. CPR & AED Certification required.

MINIMUM CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

The minimum certifications and licenses that must be met, valid, and unexpired for a candidate to be considered for a position

• 1. Has previous successful teaching, coaching and/or sport participation experience.
