ASSISTANT FOOTBALL COACH

SUMMARY OF JOB DESCRIPTION:
Assists in instructing student-athletes in the fundamental skills, strategies, and physical conditioning necessary to achieve individual and team success. Supports the development of student-athletes by promoting good sportsmanship, ethical behavior, self-discipline, leadership, and personal growth.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
- Teach fundamental philosophy, skills, and techniques as directed by the Head Coach.
- Assist in organizing and conducting practices and competitions.
- Support the Head Coach in implementing program expectations, procedures, and policies.
- Perform duties as assigned by the Head Coach.
- Assist in evaluating players and providing input on practice planning and scheduling.
- Demonstrate knowledge of Eagle County Schools and CHSAA athletic policies and regulations.
- Ensure compliance with CHSAA and league rules.
- Assist in preparing for scheduled practices and athletic events; adhere to facility schedules.
- Assist in maintaining required documentation (physical exams, consent forms, eligibility, insurance).
- Monitor student-athlete academic progress and behavior to ensure eligibility.
- Supervise student-athletes from arrival through dismissal at practices, games, and events.
- Enforce team rules and sport-specific regulations.
- Assist in directing and supervising student managers.
- Monitor and maintain athletic facilities and equipment.
- Promote the sport and encourage student participation.
- Enforce all aspects of the Eagle County Schools Athletic Handbook.
- Promote respect for school property and ensure proper care and use of equipment.
- Secure facilities (doors, windows, lights, locks) after use.
- Attend all practices, games, and team travel; provide appropriate supervision and support.
- Maintain positive relationships with students, parents, staff, officials, and community members.
- Assist the Athletic Director with scheduling and coordinating tournaments and special events.
- Follow the established chain of command for communication and issue resolution.
- Ensure proper care, storage, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
- Assist in communicating schedules, results, and program information as directed.
- Prohibit and avoid all forms of harassment or hazing; utilize appropriate team-building activities.
- Complete and submit required injury reports within 24 hours of an incident.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Knowledge of the technical aspects of the assigned sport and a commitment to ongoing professional growth.
- Previous coaching experience preferred.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and organizational skills.
- Ability to effectively communicate and work with students, parents, and staff.
